Training today was: Run 3 minutes, walk 2 minutes, and repeat 6 times. Even with walking, I managed 3 miles within that 30 minutes, aka a 10 minute pace. I’m thinking maybe my math was a little off or something, or maybe I counted my warmup walk steps into the run. But whatever. I was out there running for a half hour, and I covered 3 miles.
Saw someone I know from our daughter’s music class. She and a friend were out running. I felt really good being another runner on the path, and not just watching them go by.
This HUGE hill (seems huge when you see it on foot, anyhow) is on the path. On the way down, I got to run down it. Back? I had to run up. Part of me was hoping this would hit my walking timeframe. Well, no. I ran it. All the way up. Thankful this was the last 5 minutes of the run. Now, I understand why my 5K path will START with a loser hill like that, because there’s no way you really want to face that at the end of everything.
Guys, I’m running. A former really fat guy, still fat enough guy, is running. It’s spooky. I’m a runner.
Thanks to Kat most of all, for being so damned supportive. Thanks to all my other friends who share encouragement.
