Brilliant to set this up for the after-chat questions. Thanks for co-hosting blogchat tonight, Chris. Have you heard of any new up-and-coming tools that have promise?

  • http://www.rasolved.com R. Anthony Solis

Wow – my first blogchat – quite an experience. I simply shut down my search on #blogchat and watched my regular feed, as I was already a follower of yours. I was able to read all of your answers. Thanks Chris.

► My one question was how do I manage between two Twitter accounts, a FB personal profile and fan page… it gets pretty crazy?

So I was really glad to get Tweetdeck. However, as you mentioned, I’m noticing that my posts are relevant to one and not so much the other. I’m contemplating getting rid of one to simplify my efforts.

    Thanks in advance.

Get Tweetdeck. Synchronize accounts. That’s how I do it.

    Chris,

Have you thought through or used video to interact with other sites in order to grow your blog? I’ve seen guests posts and collaborative podcasts used in such a fashion, not able to really pin point any videos specifically though (except TED).

    Best,

    Chris

    Can I do a two-fer? One broad, one technical…

You posed the statement on Facebook that I think many took as a question but I’ll pose it in the form of a question back at ya and add to it…. “If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?”

What tool or software do you utilize that has impacted your productivity most?

Hi Jaky – yeah if you read my post I mention I have TweetDeck. :)

My question is more related to the conceptual or the whole idea of promoting 2 different businesses. Promoting one is already a lot of effort.

Here’s one Chris and others. If writing something like Mashable, would you use Joomla, WordPress, Drupal or what? They can all do the job but which would be best for this purpose?

Do you ( or how do you) determine if your conscience and integrity supports accepting a client? What if its a crappy company with a crappy rep or poor attention too customer service that needs your help marketing, or maybe one not so bad just “meh”? How do you determine where the line is drawn for you?

  • http://jakyastikblogs.blogspot.com Jaky Astik

Prompting two business at the same in social media is kind of tough yes. Now, my idea is, you’ve to build a place that synchronizes updates of both the business. And you should actually promote that ‘synchronized place’. Got an idea?

What “business gurus” and/or bloggers do you follow? And why?

Chris, what should one consider when deciding on a Twitter username: one’s name vs. one’s business/project?

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

I think it’s easier to keep one account and thread it to different projects. It’s hard to build a following. Why try to build multiple followings? I use my name as an account and promote my projects where it makes sense.

Sir Richard Branson, Tony Robbins, Tom Peters, Tim Sanders, Seth Godin, Brian Clark (copyblogger) Darren Rowse (problogger), and some others.

    Because they’re smart. : )

I never take a client I wouldn’t support or recommend.

If I’m borderline, I’ll take them, but usually that’s the wrong choice.

I am lucky to be in the position to never work on something I don’t support.

WordPress. All the others you’ve named are lovely, but have smaller developer communities.

If I had a million dollars, I’d buy you a monkey. (It’s a song lyric). However, if I had a million dollars, I’d handle some domestic engineering, and then I’d invest some into a lake front home in Maine. I’d give 10% or so to whatever charities made sense. : )

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

I use video plenty. I don’t know what you mean about using it for interacting with other sites.

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

Seesmic and Tweetdeck all use multi-faceted account setups. Why do you have many? What do you do with them?

And I guess that if you feel like you’re overlapping, save yourself some steps. : )

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

No. I’d recommend mashable and techcrunch for apps. I don’t care. I use paper and pencil still. : )

  • http://wigleyandassociates.com Griff Wigley

Makes sense. Glad I’m doing it that way and don’t have to change. Thanks, Chris.

I have 2 Twitter accounts one for RASolved (blog) and the other for Webshoo (WP Service). I also have my FB personal and Webshoo FB Fan page.

When I first booted up TweetDeck I thought I solved my problem. But after having read your book, blog and yesterday’s BlogChat, I need to make each account more relevant. The content actually needs to match the purpose of each account. Made a lot of sense when you wrote it, I hope it made sense here. :)

So I’m more aware of what post to each account and trying to segment it more. Instead of merging the the accounts, I think I have to get more relevant and target for each.

How do you do it with New Marketing Labs and your own blog? I’m subscribed to both and it seems you work with only one?

WordPress but I think Chris isn’t correct about the communities. Lately yes, wordpress have been growing faste, but all have very large communities. In my opinion wordpress beat all the other with the simplicity to create great themes, but also developing and maintaining blogs/websites wit the updates is easier, the update system of wordpress is ahead of the competition. There’s tons of websites giving many different points about this topic.

How can I get more people to actually start discussing the topics my blog about social game issue presents?

My goal is to get people to talk and change their expectations about video games. If we as a group can change our expectations, then we can change an entire multibillion dollar industry.

y question is related with Electricity Regulation Act in India. It is understood that for carrying out any electrical Installation/ maintenance of electrical installation, equipments an agency/ contractor must posses a valid electrical contractor’s license. In India these licenses are being issued by respective State Electrical Authorities. No authority of central govt. is issuing such license.
Now the question is whether the Electrical license issued by a State govt. will hold good for working in other state territory. For example if Govt. of West Bengal has issued a electrical contractor’s license to a contractor whether same shall be treated valid for working on an establishment of Central Govt. situated in state of Rajasthan.
