Are YOU a Curator

YOU I posted the other day that Robert Scoble was my news source. Some of you rightly said that I should have balance. Great. Then you tell me this:

Are YOU a Curator?

Are you someone who scours tons of blogs each morning, finds the good stuff, and dumps it into your shared feed on Google Reader? Then great! Provide me the link to your RSS to your Google Reader, and I’ll dump you into the mix with Robert Scoble.

But imagine this: Scoble reads over 1000 feeds (last I heard), and he is responsible for 30-100 new finds a day. Are you going to come even close? If so, great. Let me at ‘em.

People really into politics or mainstream news need not apply.

I read about 660 feeds, but a couple of feeds have thousands of bloggers on them like blogs.msdn.com.

Thanks for kind words! Reading feeds is how I keep up on the world.

I haven’t perfected the art of being a syndicated curator. I’m more of a targeted curator. I tend to absorb, connect, and network with many things, and then send on very specific suggestions to people who will be most impacted.

*Imaginary Chris* : but TK–buddy–you can’t assume that that’s the only person who will be impacted, you have to assume that there are hundreds of people out there very similar to the one you’re thinking of.

Ok Imaginary Chris, but how do you share targeted information with people w/out annoying or distracting all the others who come by? I mean, everyone who comes to your site expects to be blown away and inspired about how their voice matters and how they can change the world through *-casting… but if every third post you wrote was about cooking, we might get annoyed and stray.

Maybe we should call Darren Rowse in on this one…

Should I have separate channels for my curating? Or should they all be rolled into one with simple categories (not tagging, but actual separate categories)? or what?

Teach me, oh great one. (real Chris, not imaginary chris)

Hey TK- Google Reader spits out your shared items into a separate web page with its own RSS feed separate to whatever you’re doing on your blog. In my case, you never see my reading list, unless you come to [chrisbrogan.com] and click on the sidebar link listed as READING LIST. Otherwise, you would never know I’m doing it.

Heck no. I’m trying to cut back on feeds lately. Scoble can keep the honor. I will defer to the master.
