Being the Same You Always

garyvaynerchukGary Vaynerchuk is best known for the success story that his efforts with Wine Library TV have brought his family business. You can google 10,859,701 stories about that. But what he covers in the video below is important. It’s important to you as a person trying to figure out your online presence, your reputation, your persona.

Gary points out in this excellent post (and he’s been on FIRE lately on this site) just how all these new technologies are going to impact how we behave, and how we’ll have to become the same person all the time. Watch the embedded video, but then click through above and get to know more about Gary, if you don’t already. Bonus points if you get past the “novelty” factor and realize just how much impact this man is making now, and WILL make for those who recognize what he’s getting done here beyond selling old grapes.

Gary’s “80/20″ video struck a chord with a lot of people – and yeah, he’s totally on fire right now.

But there’s something about being both genuine and earnest that appeals to all of us – and he’s got both of those qualities in spades.

    His enthusiasm is catching too.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gary this past year and man, what an animal. He has so much passion and so much drive. I’m so stoked about his latest batch of videos on his blog and look forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve in 08.

Gary’s video is excellent and a must-watch for anyone thinking about dabbling in “social media.” All I can say is it’s about time.

Rockin’ commentary! I am very much behind what he’s saying. And indeed the good will come together and have the power to keep things moving in a positive direction. The bad…well…they’re normally none too eager to be in front of the camera anyway. Maybe they’ll turn good! :-)

Great video message! Finally, someone else gets that it’s not Web 2.0 anymore, it’s Web Who.0 — cool.

Wow!! Gary verbalized exactly the concept that has been gurgling up in me for the last few months. In fact, it’s pretty much the reason for my own “re-birth” in January.

Though it’s a loose parallel, I’ve been explaining to friends who aren’t “there” yet that the shifts happening in/with Web 2.0 is like the difference between pre- and post-Women’s suffrage. The point being, I’m sure there were a whole bunch of politicians pre-Women’s suffrage who were great before women could vote, but couldn’t make the shift once the voter pool increased by 100%.

Wow, I think this sums up how things are now in a nutshell. Funny how unless someone spells it out you can’t quite make the connection.

Dude is SPOT ON. Even if he did dismiss my ancient ass with air quotes.

I am still cautiously optimistic that everything Gary says will, in fact, come to fruition. I am all for Citizen Revolution (big commie from way back) but Vested Interests are vast and mighty.

    Oh–and go, Gary Vee, go!
