Change by Design – a Book for You

October 30, 2009 · Comments

I LOVE this book by Tim Brown, CEO of IDEO, one of those companies I get gushy thinking about working with (like when I think about XPlane). This book, Change by Design: How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations and Inspires Innovation (amazon affiliate link), gave me immediate payback on how I view New Marketing Labs, and also how I plan to work with clients in the coming months. • Thanks for this review. I think it's funny that you compared it to a book by the guy who designed the iPod or something like that. I really enjoy your book reviews. Thanks.
  • Hi Chris, wow, I'm so happy to learn about the book by IDEO, thank you. IDEO is amazing! I had a chance to meet up w/ Aaron Sklar of IDEO in August for a quick chat. Feel free to check out this video interview: Aaron explains what "humanity-centered design" is all about and gives examples. I hope you & readers enjoy it, hope you have a great day : )

  • Hey Chris. I'm thinking this book would be good for little ole me as well. Thank you.
  • Chris, Thanks for sharing the review. If it's had a strong influence on you it has merit in my eyes.
  • I really enjoy your short videos..straight to the point...and thanks for the book, i think i'm going to buy it
  • Lots of case studies by IDEO but they are stellar examples, right? I liked the Marriot reproduction and the faked injury best.
  • Thanks for the tip Chris. I'll definitely add this to my reading list. If it's half as good as the title itself, I'm sure that I will love it. :)
  • You know what would be great about your book reviews? Sharing chapter details, or tidbits from the book as to why you liked it and more concrete info as to why certain people should buy it.

From this one, for example, I didn't really get a reason to buy, big guy - and isn't that what a review should so?

    Cheers for considering!
  • Hey Chris!

With me fairly new to the whole blogging world and starting something new, what would be your top 5 recommended books to get? Would this book be included?

P.S. I love what IDEO does and I actually studies what they do for a whole semester at Iowa State University. Very fascinating!
  • You want that's out calculate and Canada the shoe amount is

that clutch for their feet. Buy Sand Ultra Tall Ugg Boots or not.
  • I also love to read this book. The main thing which I like the most in this book is the mission of design thinking is to translate observations into insights and insights into products and services that will improve lives.By the way nice sharing you all guys.Is any body know is this going to be webcast?
  • This book essentially delves into how to make design a part of the entire corporate life, giving companies ways to do things differently, explaining via case studies. He also goes on to explain that design is just not essential for 'creative' companies, but for everyone. It's supposed to make you think differently. Essentially rethink everything from a design perspective.
