Escape From Cubicle Nation – Video Book Review

May 8, 2009 · Comments

I’m really thrilled that Pam Slim has published Escape from Cubicle Nation. It’s the book I needed about four years ago, but that I can now reference when people ask me for steps on escaping their day job. Though I sometimes wanted her to be a bit more harsh or maybe slap us a bit to remind us it’s hard, Pam isn’t that kind of person. She’s a wonderful optimist with really great perspective. She’s got a great network of friends professionally and personally, and she knows how to help you achieve escape velocity. Check out my quick video review of Escape from Cubicle Nation.

Check it out for yourself, or buy it for a prospective escapee:

  • Pamela Slim understands that anything is possible. No longer do you have to be strapped down in a cubicle, even in a bad economy. If you have a good idea, Pamela will give you hope and some strategies you can use to rise up and take control of your life (and your dreams). This is a must read book, even for the little guy!

Many thanks for the support Chris! I am so glad you liked the book.

The line between "yes, it is really hard" and "you can do it if I can!" tone is not an easy one to balance.

I like to think of myself as a pragmatic optimist. And when things go wrong, and I splat on my face (often) and get overwhelmed (at least once a week) and don't think I could ever finish everything on my plate (every day, the only plate I clean off is piled with Oreos), I lean on others to get me through.

Either that or laugh uproariously at the absurdity of what I am trying. Then I get back at it and do it some more.

We really do need each other, and the social web is a great conduit to find each other. So thanks for showing your support, and I hope my book eases the minds of the entrepreneurial among your readers.

I am @pamslim on Twitter btw, for those of you I haven't met yet.

    In gratitude,

    -Pam
  • Pam is absolutely awesome - someone I have been reading for quite a while now. It's only icing on the cake that she has a book out now that captures so much of her wisdom.

I totally agree, Chris. I've read Pam's book and it's a really good resource that's grounded in sensible, intelligent and practical advice - not just a "you can do it!" motivational book. It's robust stuff!
  • It's a great blog and it promises to be a great book as well. There is a free chapter at Pam's blog at http://www.escapefromcubiclenation.com/wp-conte...
