I lauched Fat Guy Gets Fit 10 weeks ago. It’s an audio podcast about fitness, nutrition, self-esteem, and a website review. It’s also the story of me (who got fit but fell off the wagon) trying to get back into good shape. I just reached 263 regular subscribers to the podcast, and several thousand downloads.
I’ve been writing some version of [chrisbrogan.com] since 1998. I’ve been actively tracking subscription stats (via FeedBurner) since somewhere around January this year. In February, I had 55 subscribers. Today, I have 250, give or take (showing 279 yesterday, 236 this afternoon).
So, in 10 weeks, an audio podcast about a narrow topic, health and fitness, shot past a heavily-linked blog about self-improvement and creativity. As much as I’d love to quintuple both numbers, this is helpful to note. Because my model is that the new media (podcasting, video podcasting, vlogging, and some of the stuff that’s augmenting people’s blog usage) is really on the rise, and that people are relating and reacting to the idea of downloadable, portable media. This is an exciting day for me.
If you haven’t taken a moment to subscribe to the RSS feed for [chrisbrogan.com], it’s the number I use to measure how much impact this site is having. If you’ve a moment, please consider subscribing to my RSS feed. I want to beat that fat bastard at Fat Guy Gets Fit!!! (Oh wait, that’s me!)
