Get More Subscribers Today

I just installed the Generate (affiliate link) theme from StudioPress onto my site. It’s already popping up a bunch more email newsletter subscribers, which is a beautiful thing for me. If you’re looking to get more subscribers, this is a killer premium WordPress theme to get the job done.

This time, I went almost entirely “off the shelf.” [chrisbrogan.com] is pretty much the standard Generate theme with a fairly easy edit to the header to stick my pretty head in the area where Copyblogger Media had a nifty graphical badge. Other than that? It’s my site running Generate.

I shot this video walkthrough, and an interview with Copyblogger Media’s Chief Product Officer, Brian Gardner, to talk abut it:

If you want to get more people to your site and get more subscribers today, I can highly recommend the GENERATE theme.

ChrisBrogan.com runs on the Genesis Framework

Looks like Feature boxes are taking over the world.

I look forward to seeing how well it converts for you Chris.

They should make this a plugin that will work on any theme.  I’d be game for that!

The feature box is probably something you could work into any theme. There’s more at play here, but I’ll let you discover it. : )

I love  it. Looks great and less intrusive than a popup but probably as effective. I wonder though about it only being on the HOME page of the blog vs post pages too.

      That’s the hope. :)

Nice to see the video. :)  I blogged a short article about the redesign today.

Havent used the Featured box yet though.  Im a big fan of Genesis and child themes, and this one is a great base for customizing.

    Chris,

This theme looks really dope, definitely going to grab it. I already have the Genesis framework so the transition should be really smooth.

    Thanks for the recommendation!

Glad to hear it. : )

Nice, though you might want to change the text from “Us” to “I”. It doesn’t make sense for a solo blog to use the plural option.

    Chris,

It’s nice to know that we’re on the same wavelength.

Although I won’t be putting a huge opt-in form on TOP, I’m getting some help with a design upgrade on my website in which I already use Studiopress.

I’m going with the Agency Theme this time around, and I’m focusing on giving first-time visitors a very limited amount of choices to make when they pop by.

I’m also getting rid of my affiliate banners. The site’s going to be all about my franchise business advisory services, my ebooks, videos, and of course, my new hardcover book. (And will have a prominent email opt-in form.)

I’ll let you know when things are finished, so you can take a gander.

Nice, the ‘Halpern Header’ strikes again :) I actually just added a similar opt in to my site’s home page this past week Chris and will be paying close attention to how it affects conversions. Love how this one was styled and the colors used in the designs. Hope to hear in time the results of your header.

    Have a tremendous weekend,

    Marcus

Yeah I’d expect the opt-in to be on every page. Why not?

Brian is super cool, I met him and Nathan Rice at WordCamp SF in August. Nathan, BTW, is an incredibly talented software engineer and just a really nice guy.

Also, they throw a great party! Thanks guys!

Lookin good Chris. Now I gotta figure out to convert my old blog design to Genesis and Generate theme since I also want to focus on attracting subs in 2012.

Hi Chris! It is very interesting to watch this video. Good information has been posted. Thanks for sharing.

Chris, I know you’ve tried various tactics to get signups (opt in box, feature box, Hello Bar, etc), and it might be cool for you to do an analysis of various methods. That data would be valuable to your readers.

Thanks, Chris, for the helpful information.  I’ve already got Genesis, so I’ll have to save up for this one.  You make some good points about the need to design a nice blog header, and the small fee to have it customized.  As I’ve been thinking a lot about conversion, it’s great to see the case study you’ve made of your blog :)
