Get Attention

I’m really happy with what Jim Kukral put down on in his book, Attention! This Book Will Make You Money: How to Use Attention-Getting Online Marketing to Increase Your Revenue (amazon aff link). By the way, Jim, I think you get the reward for longest subtitle ever. The book is full of actionable advice for how to use the online world to improve your business marketing. It’s geared more towards smaller to medium businesses, but a savvy enterprise buyer would get some value out of it, too.

I don’t know how to say this appropriately, but I’ll say it like this: I was pleasantly surprised. Jim’s a good guy, a smart guy, and a person I like spending time with at events. But I didn’t realize that he’d actually turn out a decent, serviceable book. It’s really useful. Like, go back to the bookshelf, take it down, and pluck a few more ideas for a project useful.

    I agree with all the things you said in your vid-review. One thing stuck out;

    Jim is extremely underrated. His book will change that, me thinks.

    I know from personal experience that he’s a giver, not a taker. Like you.

    He’s also a really loyal guy. He’s been a terrific supporter and cheerleader of mine, ever since we met a few years ago.

    Loyalty makes it worth it for me to get up every morning and keep slugging it out.

    Im not going to be buying this book. In fact, this is the very first comment I’ve made on the DisqUs system without tweeting it as well. Im not tweeting it because I dont want to spread the word about this book. Not even negative word.

    I forgot the details of his marketing effort but it was something like “my publisher doesnt want me to give this book for free bla bla bla” at which point there was a video of him flipping the pages. Wow…I’ve learned a lot that day.

    You want to piss people off? Trick them into wasting their time. He got attention all right, but its the kind of attention I wouldnt want for myself.

    No thnx, I’ll pass on this one.

    Great recommendations overall Chris…(book wise). I’ve read several of yours (On Writing being the standout).
