Goals

A lot of people in the running blog community have been talking about goals lately, so I thought I’d take a whack at mine.

Running Goals

  • Run a 5K race every month
  • Run a 10K by the end of 2004
  • Run two 1/2 Marathons in 2005
  • Run a marathon in 2006
  • Stay injury free
  • Have 5h!tloads of fun.

    2004 Life Goals

  • Lose 30 more pounds by end of 2004
  • Wear a 34 waist pants or lower by end of 2004 (In tight 36 now, so do-able)
  • Have new career path in 2005 (same company, different role,) or…
  • Establish new home (closing on place in July)
  • Have fun with Kat and that kid who’s 2 tomorrow.
  • Get back to archery and/or hunting in fall.
  • Start draft of book on what I’ve learned.

Not a bad set of goals, eh? Let’s see how I do.

Great goals. They sound very realistic and exciting. As someone who recently re-discovered 34 pants (actually I’m wearing 33) I can tell you how nice it feels. Good luck with everything!

34 pants! That was my goal. What is it about 34 pants? :) Looks like a great set of goals, Chris. A 5K every month? That is definately doable. Lots of races like that makes me think you have the serious running bug :)

Fanatic? Moi? The 34 pants thing is because I saw a few guys at the office who I consider to be “normal” sized, and they wear 34, according to the Levi tag scan most humans do.

Yeah, those 34s are great. I’m a lose 34 (tight 33) and loving it. Although I’d like to get back to a comfortable 33 before too long. My impetus to start this whole weight-loss and exercise thing came when I realized that my 38s were too tight and I was damned if I’d move up to the big 4-0. Not gonna happen. 60 pounds lighter, I’m much happier now (and I still have another 10 or so to go IMO).

Your running goals are good too, by the way – I didn’t mean to just comment on the pants. Very achievable – even exceedable if you felt like it. Are you going to be trying to work on speed this year with the 5Ks, or just having a good time?

It is certainly feasible. In many races as I think you have a serious error in running. I consider normal sized, and lead 34 as the label Levi analyzing the majority of human beings.
