This is a brilliant marketing tactic.  Scarcity indeed creates interest, excitement, and demand!

Looking forward to what will follow!

    Suspense …

  • Khayward

It’s an edgy idea. If I didn’t know your blog fairly well, I wouldn’t come back.

  • Jsanborn

    A barrier, don’t like it.

Hey Chris. I have the book already on order with Amazon. Are these previews from the publisher? Not sure if I was sent a password. Thanks.

    • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

This won’t be a preview but a postscript. You’ll get the password when the book goes live. : )

        Thanks, Chris.

Is this post meant for your usual readers or a select few?
If it’s only for a select few, why not post it “behind the scenes” and give them a link via email?
If it is meant for your usual readers, an explanation would be nice. :)

This is a placeholder for the upcoming Google+ for Business book. It will carry additional material that came after the book was published.

      • http://kmburck.com Kathy

Ah…ok. Looks like you threw everyone off. :)
        Thanks for the heads-up! :)

I read your email. Why waste my time Chris. I opened the email. Thought what is all this about. Has Chris Brogan account been hacked ? I has to do some research. Damn you get enough traffic already brother. :)

It would have been helpful for me anyway to send a link to the book. With a sentence at least.

That is what I think anyway. :p

But this creates the thought to keep the visitor and reader engaged by creating the suspense. And it is the human nature to follow such things until they find the full information on it. Great!

Holy cow, can’t believe all the comments on a placeholder page for a book that just came out today. Reading it on kindle for iPad after auto-delivery. Great read so far. About to punch in the password and see if there are any updates ;-)

  • Scott Rodgers

    …Ha!

  • http://raulcolon.net Raul Colon

Great I finally gor the password :)

Chris … this is, obviously, too late for the first edition, but you might want to have QUE fix it for subsequent print runs … on page 125, in the 4th-to-last line it says “lots” instead of “lost” … just got done reading the review copy and that was the only typo I noticed, so figured I’d pass it along!

    • http://chrisbrogan.com/ Chris Brogan

Hah! Good to know. Thanks, Brendan. Oddly, the most popular mistake on Trust Agents was on page 125. Little detail.

Just finished the 12th edition with great interest! Do you have a book dedicated to Google+ for Local businesses you could recommend by any chance? Best of wishes sent from England.
