Happy Birthday Violette

Happy Bitthday Violette The chalk drawing was Kat’s idea, as was the house full of balloons that my daughter woke up to this morning. It’s great to be 8, and my daughter woke to her second of three special days (as we had a party this past weekend with my Dad and Mom, and there’ll be festivities on Friday, as well).

I just wanted to share a few personal videos from the experience, because hey, why not?

This last one is Harold eating cake while we weren’t looking.

Why share family videos on my marketing blog? Because my business involves my family. My mom and dad work with me. My wife and kids support me. My daughter sometimes reviews products with me.

And because I can. Try that, mainstream.

And happy birthday, Violette!

    Love it. I think we can easily try to segment and compartmentalize our lives as if they aren't holistic. Like spirituality, etc. Everything is spiritual, not just what happens on Sunday or in those moments when we pray. Same goes for the fam. They aren't a box that gets tucked to the side but rather an extension, a part of the package. I like that. I like that you make your business like family. It shows me that your priorities are grounded with things that matter long after what rusts is gone. I think being real makes us whole and makes us able to do business as humans. Sure, people who follow for content specific to their business, etc may not want to get over inundated with personal posts, picture of puppies and babies, but recognizing that those things are part of who we are helps to tell a story that is important to tell.

    Reason 101 why I love how you bring humanity to the forefront, just because you can was good enough for me : ) My boys are 19 & 22 now, those kinds of birthdays are a memory, how I miss my kids when they were younger and much more innocent. Be sure to cherish all Golden moments, they grow up far too fast.

    . . .and that's how it should be – especially the multi-generational thing. Growing up on a farm in the eye of Wisconsin's Indian, as children grew, new houses were added beside the old to accommodate the new family. Grandpa and Grandma were always close by – as generally were aunts, uncles, and cousins. It didn't take a village to raise a child – it took one loving family. Yea for you and yours!

    Nice chalk art on that parking space! I miss drawing with chalk on the asphalt. I used to do that when I was a kid. I remember a birthday celebration we had here in the house. It was a surprise birthday for my dad. We had a banner printed. We posted that in the dining room where we were hiding, and on each room, there was a sign that leads to clues on where to find us. The printing service really had high quality printers. The banner we designed came out lookin’ great! Dad liked it a lot!
