Not wanting to appear pedantic but Europe is so not a country, but a continent. Europe is comprised of countries.

If you said to a Swedish person and a French person that they lived in the same country you'd make no friends pretty fast.

Yes I agree with your motivation for getting people to run unconferences, anywhere, anytime, no matter what the size. I think they probably do take place in EU, certainly barcamps have started too, and geeky sessions of various names, the trick is to reach out of your own immediate circle though, and not make it too "cult-like", if I can say that.

I particularly liked my brief time with PodcampEU due to the exhibitors of VON being so close, that meant people could "reach-out", which is paramount in my mind, touch people who are not doing what you do, but could.

I imagine with time, some years, half a generation, everyone will be engaging fully with these concepts so the camps will be just taking place culturally by defualt.

Was also very good to see you again, Chris.

Indeed it was great to meet you as well. I wished I was there for both days. Would have been excellent. And yes, we should speak more soon.

p.s The band was super duper.

People here use their cells to play MP3s.

Okay, this tells me that you and I should be communicating more about this kind of stuff regarding US vs. Europe and the Middle East... I had no idea that Americans *weren't* playing mp3s on their cells. Is it just that everyone in the States can afford to have an iPod as well? Also, do you think things will change in the US with the release of the iPhone?
