Inbound Marketing Is For You

October 23, 2009 · Comments

I couldn’t be any MORE biased than I am about this book. I’m on the advisory board of their company, Hubspot. The authors are both friends. They speak at my conferences. At least one of them has bought me dinner. The other one took me to a Celtics game once. They’re published by the same publisher as me.

There, you shouldn’t pay attention to a word I say. (That is, unless you want to succeed in the new world of marketing).

The following is my passionate plea for you to buy Inbound Marketing: Get Found Using Google, Social Media, and Blogs (amazon affiliate link).

If you can’t see the video click here.

Pick this book up. : )

  • Nice, informative review. Great down to earth delivery style. And you have a great video cam - makes watching leaps and bounds more enjoyable than most fuzzy videos...
  • I've already experienced doing Inbound and Outbound calls and I think Inbound is much better than outbound calls

  • I hapened to win a free copy from Hubspot (very happy about that) and can't wait to read it. I'll be doing a video review as soon as it arrives and look forward to spreading the word.
  • Triple E-that's great! Using the internet to Educate, Enlighten and Entertain can most definitely be used by ANY industry. From the one-man cobbler, to the 500 employee Tech company. We all have a professional voice-no matter the size or type of industry we are in. It's such a great idea presented here for us to use that voice in social media to Educate, Enlighten and Entertain. All the while establishing a known authority for yourself in your industry. Thanks!!

  • Chris - Thanks for sharing this. I'm definitely going to pick up a copy. Also, I think Brian and Dharmesh would be great guests on my show so I'll make sure to reach out to them.

Thanks my man and bias is all part of journalism :) I loved it.
  • What a coincidence that you made this post Chris. I picked up this book and a few others at Barnes & Nobles to better my SEO strategies. I've began to read the first few pages of this book, and I must say that there is some vital information related to internet marketing in general within it. I'd recommend this book as well...and no, I have no ties to Chris nor the authors. lol

Loved your review. Even the "What About Bob" bit where you happened to find your own book (which I own!) on the shelf behind you! Love it!
  • Chris,
I'm half way in your book (I'll write a review, five stars so far, I hope that you guys didn't screw up in the second half :D just kidding). When I finish with yours I'll move to this one I already check some reviews and looks promising.
  • Just ordered the book Chris. Looks like a great read. Can't wait to dig in. Thanks for the recommendation.
  • hi, chris. i heard this from a friend. good thing you blogged about it. i always love your post. :)

I wanted to pick this book up at blog world, but I got caught up in other stuff and forgot. :-(

Saw this review, which was a friendly reminder. I picked up the kindle edition. Can't wait to read it!

I agree with Gregg, how many copies does an author need of his own book on his own book shelf? ;-)
  • I couldn't be more biased in purchasing Inbound Marketing also. I'm a graduate of HubSpot's Inbound Marketing University, and this book provides the perfect book-end (to use a pun) for the remarkable content HubSpot generously shared in that initiative. Like @greggmorris I've been voraciously studying this book and I've got notes written everywhere in the margins. I love this book because of the many pearls that are: (1) explained simply, (2) shared via chapter summaries with insightful "do these things now" lists, and (3) provide valuable learnings from the trenches." Yup, bias in this case is a good thing because the content is legit.

Geez, how many copies of Trust Agents do you have on that shelf anyway?!! :-)

I bought Inbound at the beginning of the week. I've been a big fan of Hubspot for a while now and that led me to buy the book. Well, okay, the cartoons I read leafing through didn't hurt. Neither did the list on the acknowledgement page, a veritable who's who of marketing, pr, social media and content. I read voraciously about all of new media and this is one of the best of the bunch. I found myself closing the book after just about every page or so and just thinking about what they said and how it applies. Adds a lot of time to the book reading process but sure does a lot for the understanding process.

Chris might be biased. I'm not. Buy the book. I don't think you'll be sorry you did.
