RocketBoom did a great interview with Jeff Pulver the other day. They aired what they could, but there’s so much more hidden in the comments below the main entry.
In one part, he talks about setting up VON. I went to VON last year for the day job and loved it, and that was just on the floors. I’m slated to go next week to VON again.
So, imagine the strangeness: Justin gets an email inviting him to the VON/Video On the Net part of the event. He replies to Jeff and says something about me.
Jeff writes us both back, and is SO generous. He upgrades my ticket. He talks to me about his event planning experience. He lets me take a call from him later on in the night.
(Which I blew, due to some scheduling snafus related to being a day away from PodCamp – sorry again, Jeff).
But you’ve gotta imagine this. Here’s the guy behind Vonage. He’s featured in the aWall Street Journal, and he talks about ALL the various vectors I’m passionate about (and a few more- I don’t do HAM radio, unfortunately).
Jeff and I could talk telco (I’ve 16 years experience). He’s passionate about bringing media to people without the forced silos of traditional media. He’s dragging people together to talk about the future of telephony, the future of video. He raises money for diabetes, and he uses some really oldschool cool technology in lieu of IM clients.
There’s so much stuff on Pulver.com — Oh! C. C., Jeff just set up a conference center in Second Life too. (I don’t have the link, but it’s on Jeff’s blog.
Jeff mentioned getting together to talk and hang out on Saturday night, so I’m really hopeful for that. He’s already opened a lot of ideas in my head, and I hope to talk some more on some of his future plans, maybe even see if there’s a way I can be helpful to him and his many organizations.
Thanks again to Justin Kownacki, prince among thieves. : )
