Something interesting has come out of the Jaiku migration: SEVERAL people have announced that they were afraid of being left behind. It turns out this is a huge motivating factor. Sure it’s a negative motivator, but whoa. It’s powerful. I know. I have a ton of new friend requests for Jaiku all at once, instead of the gradual growth I experienced on Twitter.
I’m trying to think of things I’ve done because I didn’t want to be left out. I’m sure Kat is the better person to answer that, because I’m a whitewasher. But who knows? I don’t see myself as a “keeping up with the Joneses” type.
Is that why there are so many people trying out Second Life? Are they worried they’ll miss out?
What’s your take?
