Loving My New VertiGo Bag

WaterfieldVertiGo Bag I’m so grateful to Jared Goralnick of SET Consulting who turned me on to the Waterfield bags on a recent visit to my town. I bought the VertiGo bag with a Mambo laptop sleeve case to go inside, and I bought the shoulder straps with D rings.

What’s really cool about the experience was that the people from Waterfield emailed me shortly after the order to say that they were missing a piece of material and that the order would be delayed by a day or two. I wrote back and thanked them, and then they wrote back and chatted me up a bit.

I loved it. I felt like they really cared who was buying their bag.

A little later, they were ready to ship, and they emailed me to tell me that. Now, I have to stress, this delay they spoke of was like… two days instead of one day, or something like that. It was NOT a big stink. And yet, they treated me like I was waiting for this bag and that all time was stopped until I had it.

Jared GoralnickSo good on you, Waterfield, and thanks to Jared Goralnick for good Word of Mouth on it. I’m really happy with my bag. (Next time, I’ll get the flap thing. I need ONE more pocket).

I LOVE that bag! I had never heard of this company before. Checked it out. Now I’m set with my husband’s gift (VertiGo), brother’s (DS Lite Case), and mom’s (camera case). Thanks for the tip! Now I just need ideas for my techno-phobic dad….

    Chris -

I thought I would pass along another recommendation for those that are looking for a rugged / historical look (tin cloth and bridle leather).

The Filson bags are built tough. I recommend a thin computer sleeve as the old school metal zippers can scratch your laptop on insert and removal. They are still made in Seattle as well!

Really glad you’re liking the bag, Chris! And to echo your opinion for those reading this, I’ve had two of their bags for a couple years now and they still work and look great : ).

I spent a long, long time searching for a new, more ergonomic laptop back earlier this year and I heard nothing but good stuff about Waterfield, their bags and their service.

In the end I went with a Crumpler belly rucksack which has loads of room for all the stuff I need to take me and incorporates a vertical laptop sleeve which sits right against your back and is really comfortable. You’ve just reminded me again about the Vertigo though – it’s so tempting to get one for shorter trips!

I bought my first SFbag in 2002 for my then new iBook and then another one at work for my titanium Powerbook. These bags designed for bike messengers had the best padding and zippers of any I have seen, and seemed like they could survive some major mishaps.

but the most over the top thing has getting a personal note written by Gary on the invoice and a followup email from him, not some vague “sales@xxxxx.com address. That personal touch was a ray of bright sunshine in customer feel good.

The only reason I switched ti a Timbuk2 was all the other crap I now have to carry.
