One Thing To do Different Today

Today, only today, say to yourself this one thing: “I am a superhero, and my power is _______.” Say it a lot. Think it a lot. Think with the perspective of someone with power inside. Think hard about how you can use that power. Can you be more helpful? Are there things only YOU can solve?

And if you don’t much feel like a superhero, just for today, BECOME ONE. Call it a secret identity, if you like.

We need superheroes, and I suspect you’re one of them that we need. What’s your power? (Snarky answers not included).

One of my superpowers is the ability to make awesome music.

Need a little time to get my Bat Cave (er, recording studio) put together but in the meantime I’d be happy to collaborate with anyone who already has recording capability and is looking to make custom music for their podcast/videoblog.

I play bass and have ideas.

Saying that Jon has or plays a bass is like saying Jackson Pollock and Pablo Picasso owned paints. If you’re a musician, check in with Jon. If you NEED music for a podcast or videoblog, check with Jon.

I guess it would be storytelling, then. And I have many to tell. Important ones. Life-altering, in fact.

Chris, you’re too kind. Please work on that.

    Seriously, thanks.

Superpower? Hmmm…. It would have to be “creative problem solving”. Not too snazzy? Think, MacGyver!

I am a superhero, and my power is explaining complicated ideas in ways people can understand.

My superpower is free-associative linking of various high and lowbrow ideas into a simmering soup (supe?) of heroic hysterics, which I use to nourish my…. oh, look, a shiny thing. Where was I? Something about soap? Um… I appear to have slipped in some….

    It’s also my kryptonite.

My super power is I know how they get the Caramilk into the Caramilk bar. Maybe not that big of a deal to you, but….

No, wait, my super power is being able to help all those women that think they’re a ‘Summer’, but they’re really a ‘fall’. And also, when I cry, my tears are the cure for their combination skin…

    Ok, no…

    um…

    My super power is levity?

Mine- I used to think I could sum it up best as “a Storehouse for all useless knowledge” but as I get older, the vast amount of stuff stored on my internal hard drive actually is pretty dang useful.

My favorite one, though, is having an innate sense about people and their feelings. It’s harder to do this on the ‘net. But being able to share and connect are super powers we can all have!

Oh, and for those of you still wondering what your power is, this might help: Tom Rath just came out with Strengthsfinder 2.0. It identifies your top 5 areas of talent. Mine are Ideation, connectedness, input, individualization and strategic. So these are the start of super strengths, anyway!

Yes and Yes. Either Windows Movie Maker or iMovie (depending on what you’ve got) and then http://blip.tv for the other.

Boy, this superheroism blogging is going around. I think you, me and Penn are all drinking from the same cup.

    Wash your hands.

My superpower? Easy: Captain Harebrained Scheme, on patrol. No concept too unlikely, no ideas too disparate, no business model too unwieldy to be seriously considered.

You’ve got a carrot and a donkey? I see an eco-friendly mobile fertilization unit. Give me two hours and $2000 and I’ll write you up a franchise license…

My superpowers are threefold. 1. I can script most social networking sites. 2. I can find ways to turn a negative situation to my advantage. 3. I can find ways to connect disparate things and ideas.
