So, last night, I went to downtown Manhattan to get something for supper before attending the TechCrunch Meetup. The sky was dark and dreary. Finally, of course, it started to rain.

I learned that in New York City, there are NO CABS when it starts to rain. None. They flitter away like raindrops. I ended up walking in POUNDING rain from 42nd Street to 23rd (yes, 19 city blocks), and then, I walked right from 5th avenue down to 9th. Avenues are VERY long.
As a result, my poor brandy spanking newish Blackberry Pearl isn’t working right now. It’s watersoaked, I’m guessing. So was I. My first two nametags fell off at the TechCrunch party.
I met Mike Arrington. Tall, polite as he could be, and absolutely MOBBED. I kinda met Jay Addison (sp?), the ceo of Digg. I met a VP of Digital Innovation from NBC Universal. I met Andy Plesser from Beet.TV.
Most of all, I hung out with Jeff, told the occasional person about Network2, and then complained with Jeff that it was too loud, too dimly lit, and generally not conducive to actual NETWORKING.
On the contrary, our party was expecting 60 or so guests. We got over 200.
Poor, poor BlackBerry Pearl. I’m flying back to Boston eventually.
