So this morning, my BlackBerry took a huge flying leap out of my holster and SMASHED on the concrete floor of my loft. It’s had some falls before, but nothing like this. Anyhow, phone no worky.
I’m at a Starbucks waiting to meet with someone, and realized I can’t get a call from her, nor can my wife get in touch. What do I do? I throw Skype on the laptop, stick my iPod headphones in, fire up my lapel mic, and I’ve got things covered.
I Skyped Katrina and told her the status of the phone. She said the quality was so good, I wasn’t permitted to call her on my cell any more. That’ll be tricky, as it’s not like I’ve got EVDO. Can you imagine telling people your cell phone is your laptop? 1985 all over again!
Anyhow, if for some reason, you haven’t tried Skype, get it. It’s free. It’s also free right now to Skype Out to the regular telephone network (until the end of the year at least). It’s super cheap to use for international calling. In fact, there’s no reason why NOT to use this service.
Get Skype today as a productivity multiplier.
