if text is the same for FCE as FCP, you need to make a second video layer on top of the current one on your timeline. That’s where the text will live. In your clip bin window there’s a tab (i presume your doing this on a laptop) called effects. Then click on the folder called “video generators” then a subfolder callt “text” double click on that and there is a choice called simply text. Double click on that and a text window will pop up. call me if you need more info!
