this was amazing...I even shed a tear...
  • Wow... Wow... what a lucky lucky (and beautiful) little boy. You have just given him the gift of a life time... no really....what I wouldn't have given to know that I was so deeply loved and for something so simple as just being me.... what a dad...and happy birthday after birthday after birthday Harold!
  • Wow, that was beautiful man. Seriously. Harold is a lucky kid to have you.
  • I'm always struck by how hard it is for thoughtful parents to sum up their kids when they are small. I remember being asked on kindergarten applications to describe our child, and I always felt like I was still getting to know them. Like they were on loan, and I was just finally getting to try all the new features that were being added every day. Summing them up in a short essay seemed to be , well, pointless and besides the point, because it's impossible to judge or sum up someone who is just beginning to really be.
Happy Borthday, Harold. You've got great parents who are dedicated to making the world a better place. And tell your Dad he's crazy about the selfish thing- he is the most generous person I know.

    Happy Birthday, Harold.

    Thanks for sharing, Chris.

I think Harold will be very proud of his Dad when he is old enough for this to matter.
