Social Media 101 – Amazon KINDLE edition

Social Media 101 – Audible.com edition

Social Media 101 – Barnes & Noble

Who Should Want This Book?

First off, the book is a collection of information that you might have read about here on [chrisbrogan.com]. Most of it comes from blog posts, tidied up to be useful to you. But that’s the point.

This book is for people who are less likely to read my blog. It’s also a way to have my information distilled in a static form so you can refer to bits as you need them. That’s one benefit to it.

Another benefit? You can share this with folks who might not normally read the blog who might need to get what we’re doing here in social media.

Make sense?

It’s Not the NEW Stuff

It’s the basics. It’s the little tricks and ideas. It’s suggestions of what to do next. Is it new and mind-blowing? No, not really. It’s important. Yes, it’s important.

Special Thanks

This book wouldn’t exist without my mom and dad. Steve Brogan and Diane Brogan did tons and tons of work on this book. My wife, Katrina, helped out, as well. Imagine that: a book brought to life by family. Hands-on by people who are NOT social media experts, but who get it. They all use these tools in their own ways, very differently from me. And yet, they use them.

Will you?

I am a fan of chris brogan blog. He knows a lot about social media. I am a top producer in south america and I am begining to build my personal brand using social media. This book has the best articles of chris`s blog with a lot how to for people like me who want to introduce in the social media arena but it is a little desorganized and I would expect a little more than I read in his blog.

I just downloaded it on my Nook. Can't wait to really get into it.

I love reading books on the Nook, but I was just thinking that if I have the pleasure of meeting you again that I can't ask you to sign my Social Media 101 book. Hmmm! Guess they need to add an autograph book to the Nook like we had when we were kids.

I did see that you are speaking at the same conference Jason is speaking at in Chicago in a few weeks.

Chris…as one of the leading influencers in all things social media…you often write about social media effectiveness. I ordered the book but haven't yet read it…wondering how you address the hot topic of the day…making social media more accountable. Tomorrow, StrongMail, a leader in email and social marketing is launching the first of its kind suite of products that marketers can use to engage with their brand influencers in social channels and get detailed performance measurement and analytics. What’s different about this from some of the other tools you may be familiar with is that it tracks engagement all the way through conversion..not just awareness. Check out these live examples of campaigns that are going on right now…would love to get your opinion.

StrongMail Influencer is a referral marketing platform that enables marketers to motivate their brand influencers to spread the word about a brand or offer.

    Live Program Example: Mozy.com

    http://mozy.com/share

Social Notes is a social sharing tool that enables marketers to make the content of their websites and emails sharable.

    Live Program Example: Flip Video

    http://store.theflip.com/en-us/designs/upload.a

Currently in private beta, Social Direct is a campaign management application to help marketers engage their fans and followers on Twitter and Facebook, with detailed analytics on campaign performance. This tool is designed for the professional marketer (vs. individual social media applications like Tweetdeck). The difference is easiest to understand with an email analogy… while Outlook is critical for managing your every day personal communications, you wouldn’t use Outlook to create, launch and track your email marketing campaigns. You need a technology platform designed for that purpose.

    Hey Chris, how are things?

Ordered the book, should have it for Monday. Looking forward to reading it!
I created a webcast looking at a similar issue, the key aspects and issues regarding social media and how organizations need to be using it – http://jonbuckleypr.wordpress.com/2010/02/19/so

Feel free to take a look, and any feedback would be great.

    Cheers,

Just completed “reading” Chris Brogan's new book SOCIAL MEDIA 101. Well … the book is loaded with lots of great tips and strategies/tactics to do social media right. I need to re-listen to the book several times so that I don't miss anything. Lots of gem. Now, the critical part – it has nothing to do with the book. It has to do with the Narrator… Chris Brogan thought it was a good idea to narrate his own book. I think this was a bad idea… the content is very interesting and there are lots of great narrators out there who would knocked this book out of the park… let's say that he is good writer with very much relevant content but should stay away from narration in future. There is still time to go and get a narrator to re-do the book for audio channels.

Chris, “Social Media 101″ is a perfect compliment to “Trust Agents”. You did an excellent job in breaking down the tools into strategies. This is especially important for professionals that are looking to use social media and also be efficient and more importantly, more effective with their time. This book can really serve as a thermometer to those that are unsure where to start or for those that need help in social media. Great job!

Just wondering: would these help someone in recruiting, for instance?

Looking for Social Media work where I am now, and I'm coming across a lot of strange remarks out of recruiters—who are interviewing for social media jobs—about social media.

You think something like this might help bring them up to speed?

Yes. Purchased it, blogged about purchasing it, and now I am reading it! And when I am done, I will share it with my team. Thanks for writing it.

Chris, What can I say? I first got your book “Trust Agents” and I loved it, although it did not answer all my social media questions. Then social media 101 was my next book and it was fantastic. I am a Chris Brogan disciple, the book was well written, easy to follow without any complications. It is one of those books that you read and you continue to say, “I have to do that on my blog” or “I missed that on my Facebook page”.

The book is highly recommended by me, and I will be recommending it to all my colleagues, friends and family. All I can say is thanks Chris for a job well done. Now onto “ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett” one of the books you recommended.

    You Rock Chris!
