If only Google Ads were this human ;)

  • Louis

    Classic!

I want to be this guy when I am older! You have to have something to shoot for!

    • http://www.dogwalkblog.com/ Rufus Dogg

      Why wait until you’re older?

  • WScott

I wish more ads were real!

  • http://ClimbingEveryMountain.com Mary E. Ulrich

Bet they had fun filming that one.

Great song, great bass line. Shazam failed me, but it appears to be “Hit or Miss” by Odetta.

love it. you know how many hyper body-conscious women i knew that are now saying, “fuck it. this is the best body i’ve got. let’s get some sun on my belly and wear that bikini.” for the first. time. ever.?

    right on so’co’!

I was waiting for something amazing to happen and it did. The dude just being himself. Kudos to the ad agency Wieden + Kennedy. Sometimes simple is better.

Never thought I would spend so much time looking at a guy older than me in a speedo… But you have done the impossible Chris Brogan!

  • ColleenConger

The more I get out of my “comfort zone”, the more I like myself. This ad should be an anthem for all of us – be comfortable with yourself and screw the rest of the world – that’s what it means to be, plainly put, human.

  • http://www.findnewcustomers.com Jeff Ogden

Loved that ad, Chris. Elegant simplicity. Middle aged man in a Speedo walks down the beach. He’s got paunch, but doesn’t seem to care. Then he picks up a drink. Very cool.

Thanks for sharing this Chris. A perfect example of the “keep it simple” concept. Southern Comfort asked “who is our consumer?” They identified their demographic, enhanced with some great music, a few simple camera angles and a story that didn’t need an explanation. Our “consumer” is anyone who wants to feel like they can be themselves. Too many people (i.e. writers, bloggers, salesmen, people shooting videos) would have tried too hard to add more when doing less really works.

Off for a drink… It worked!

  • Alessandro Geminiani

    It’s a nice ad.
However, my consideration is: would it work on a shorter version? I don’t think so… you need the entire 1:42 min to transfer the message…

  • http://perioandimplants.wordpress.com/ Alessandro Geminiani

I was wondering if a shorter version would transfer the same message…
    Very nice.

  • Susan

Awesome. I am part of your rapt audience. Carry on. And thank you.
