Chris, I agree with the point "Educate customers" and I would add: "Educate potential colleagues".
The way we can do it is by sharing the social media culture we are acquiring.
Many people improvise, many people do not research, do not read, do not study and finally do not understand online journalism ethics.
And most of them hasn't the humility to learn...
What would you say to them?
@filsa I have founded a Web and Social Media start-up in Switzerland, so I know what you are speaking about...
I have fortunately created a global social network which can have wider horizons...
Then I have just created a Social Media Basel group on Facebook (join it!)...however it is a very long way to weave the social media networks here.

I don't think you missed any Chris, but recently I've liked to some up the importance of the set up stage of any social media campaign with the simple sentence WHY before HOW. Clear goals are essential to develop a successful strategy, you need to know why you're using social media before you figure out how to best use it

I believe an important point to add would be the branding of your profiles across various networks in your social media strategy.

With so many services one can incorporate today, it's easy to forget how important branding is in digital communications.

Content, design, and even conversation starters should be driving users to relate the brand and message.

Thank You for post.
