Sticks Stones and Life- Video Book Reviews

September 13, 2009 · Comments

I had the chance to read Larry Weber’s Sticks and Stones: How Digital Business Reputations Are Created Over Time and Lost in a Click(amazon link), and also Douglas Rushkoff’s Life Inc.: How the World Became a Corporation and How to Take It Back (amazon link). Both books are definitely worth picking up.

Larry’s is good if you need to convince a company to get into the social web for reputation management. Douglas’s book is, well, it’s a bit dreary, but definitely very important. There are many gems in Rushkoff’s book that took me days to unravel. If you need to convince someone to use social media for listening, buy Sticks and Stones. If you want to think about how the world’s forces impact you, buy Life, Inc. As a bonus, I shot this at the Sanibel Harbor Resort and Spa, where I stayed this weekend. Absolutely gorgeous place.

  • If you care about your reputation, the reputation of your business or organization, or for that matter, the ones you have any affiliation with, then you must read Larry Weber's new book, Sticks & Stones. You won't think about reputation the same way again!
Both of books are really an incredible...
  • Hi Chris -- thanks for your thoughts on Sticks & Stones. It's still amazing to me that some companies don't even have a simple Google alert set up to track what's being said about their brand! Look forward to catching up with you about Trust Agents soon...
  • Hey Chris, I enjoyed that view from the balcony... gotta get me some of that as soon as we finish our beta launch! Thanks for the reviews. I think I'll give Sticks & Stones a read, and have just ordered Trust Agents (late, I know - but better late than never!)
    Cheers

I'm too intelligent for this selling, oops, blogging culture man.

It's easy to crush but then i don't want to either. Sh*t we sold out big.

This is bad, and your conversation completely aptimises this cultural shift, like many others i have come across tonight.

Just make sure you've got air con, your own power supply, fresh water, and replenishable food stocks, or better still review a book that shows you how on that one for about the year 2040 give or take a decade either way!!!.
  • Hey Chris, Do you read a book every 2 days or something?! I've been trying to keep up reading all the books that you're recommending but you're killing me! LOL

I got Trust Agents done as soon as it came out, so, I'm covered :)

Thanks for all the book recommendations. You're my personal Amazon recommendation engine
  • Here's a secret, Andy: I fly almost every day. It's easy to read when you have precious few other options. : ) I can rarely use my laptop the moment the person in front of me wants to catch a nap, so I'm relegated to reading. : )
