Volume 2 is Coming
For anyone who DIDN’T see their contribution to my birthday video that Katrina made me, PLEASE contact me. Kat missed some clips, couldn’t get some to work, and some folks contributed late, etc. Through several circumstances, the finished piece is missing some of your kind wishes, so I’m going to work with Katrina in putting out a Volume 2.
Please contact me.
Damned Slow Wifi In My Room
I’ve got stuff to post, but the wifi in my hotel room chews. Or rather, the Internet connection chews. I have full strength wifi, but no oomph to my signal. I’ll try posting shortly. I have pics from last night’s silliness.
Announcing the PodCamp Foundation
Christopher S. Penn and I are announcing this morning that we’ve started the PodCamp Foundation, a corporation (not non-profit) dedicated to preserving the PodCamp brand, and working to help facilitate the organizers of PodCamps wherever they choose to have them.
The goal is to bring people more consistent starting information, while also perhaps helping with the funding requirements of PodCamps, should that be of use to others.
Thanks to Whitney Hoffman for her help.
If you have detailed questions, I’m sure I don’t have detailed answers. For now, it’s a 50-50 company with Mr. Penn and myself. We’ll figure out how best to make it all work as we go along. It doesn’t break the unconference plan. Instead, we’re hoping to be a support leg for the movement, and felt that incorporating was a good option, should there ever be a legal challenge, etc.
More as we figure it out.
PodCamp Europe Already 29 Folks

I’m so jazzed to see that after only a couple of days, PodCamp Europe has 29 folks signed on. And when you look at most of them, they are community leaders in their own right. So it’s exactly what we were hoping for: a way to bring the larger topic of PodCamp into Europe, and then let all these talented people take a swing at it in their own communities.
I’m looking forward to learning from the European perspective, meeting cool new audio and video folks, learn from the cool kids, and bring some ideas back to the States when we’re done. Hopefully, we’ll have some good ideas to trade back and forth.
If you can get to Stockholm for 12-13 June, 2007, please register.
Find Me at PodCampNYC on April 7th
My Sessions
- 10AM- Grammercy Room, floor 3- The Spirit of PodCamp- Let’s Make Something, with Christopher S. Penn.
- Herald, floor 3- Beyond Monetization: The Currency of Relationships, with Whitney Hoffman.
Beyond that, I won’t be attending sessions. I will be roaming around as an Ambassador. I will move around the people, make sure people feel heard and seen, and just build community the way I know how.
The night before, I’m not sure that I’m coming to the “official” pre-event. I think it’ll be fun, but might not be my scene. I’ll visit, and see what happens from there.
Take down my cell: 631-612-8945
I’m easy to reach by phone or SMS. Get in touch. We should be hanging out together, right?
Other than that, what’s there to say? Go check out the Official PodCampNYC site, but also download and save the Unofficial Guide to PodCamp NYC, the best document to have and use.
Yes I Am Going to PodCamp NYC
Yes. I’ll be there. Yes, you know what I look like. Yes, I really want to meet you too. Please say hi to me.
Announcing PodCamp Europe
PodCamp Europe will be held 12-13 June, 2007, in Stockholm Sweden. This one is organized by Christopher S. Penn and myself, and the venue/food/audio-video sponsor is the VON Conferences (thanks to Jeff Pulver).
We’ll calling it PodCamp Europe, because we want to invite all potential European PodCamp hosts to come and visit with us, and see what you think of the whole new media unconference thing. If you’re in Europe, and you can make your way to Stockholm, Sweden for June, I think this one will be NOT to miss.
More details as we get them.
Why Im Not Going to PodCamp New York
I’ve been thinking this over for some time, but picked today as the day to make a decision: I’m not going to PodCamp New York.
Frankly, at this point, there’s nothing that can change my mind. I am just not enamored with the idea of hanging out with nearly 1000 people . It just won’t feel like old home days.
I wish everyone well, and I hope that you get lots out of the experience. It’ll be a great event without me. I’m too bitchy and self-centered anyhow. And besides, my birthday is the day after.
So, have fun.

Network2 Contest Finalists Have Been Notified
I just sent email to the three Network2 Contest finalists. Jeff would’ve done it himself, but we talked about it, and he gave me the go ahead. He’s in Tel Aviv (6 hours ahead of my time). So, that’s done, and I’m really excited. There were great submissions, and it turned out to be really difficult to choose the finalists. Our judges had lots of discussions and then everything was boiled down to the final decisions.
I wanted everyone to win. : )
