Thankfully, seeing Mr. Stowe Boyd‘s blog (a never-miss on my reader) reminded me that I have something to promote on behalf of one Mr. Andy Sernowitz.

July 30th, swing over to Chicago, and check out Andy’s Crash Course in Word of Mouth Marketing. (And while you’re there, visit Liz Strauss and give her a kiss for me.)

Andy’s got a five step program on learning word of mouth marketing. He’s charged tons to Microsoft, TiVo, and others, but for you, he’s willing to make you an offer. (More on that in a sec). By the way, Andy promises this to be very active, intense, and interactive.

So, Stowe has a code and I’ve got a code, and I wouldn’t want you to have to pick and choose, so once again, here’s Stowe Boyd’s post with a great code that will save the faithful readers of /Message $250.

Or, you could use my code. (I make zero bucks doing this. Hey wait! What? Nope, didn’t read that I do.)

Deal says, Use code “welovechrisbrogan” when you register. (I love me, too.)

More information: http://events.gaspedal.com

Chicago: July 30 and September 4 (oh, is there a second date? So said the email!)

Why this is interesting to me

You know, it’s really only recently that I’ve been hit with LOTS of talk about word of mouth marketing. I wrote about David Balter’s book, and got some lively conversation. I have spoken to lots of different people involved with Affiliate Marketing, and I’ll be speaking on social media at the upcoming Affiliate Summit in Boston, so that’ll be a chance to meet even more folks into this space.

I like that Andy went to bloggers he knew and asked us to help him promote his word of mouth event. Andy also sent me his book in a cool way. He sent it along with another book he thought I might want to read. In fact, if I weren’t fairly tied up with stuff this summer, I might even consider getting out there to see what Andy has in mind, because I missed his talk at PodCamp NYC.

So, I dunno. I want your thoughts, too. What’s this whole upswell in word of mouth marketing? Why is this suddenly MORE talked about? Or is it? Is this just me tuning in a new dial?
