Talkathon Tuesday the 19th at Noon Eastern

February 18, 2008 · Comments

Talkathon will cover an interesting topic for community types tomorrow: What is the NEXT Kiva.org? There is NOTHING quite like Kiva.org. Why not? It’s time to push this idea out there and find a new way to help people worldwide via the Internet.

I think it’s interesting and worth some time.

ChrisBrogan.com runs on the Thesis Theme for WordPress

Thesis WordPress theme

Thesis is the search engine optimized WordPress theme of choice for serious online publishers. If you’re a blogger who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality without having to alter any code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.

With so many design options, you can use the template over and over and never have it look like the same site. The theme is robust and flexible enough not only to accommodate a site like ChrisBrogan.com, but also to enable the site to run far more efficiently than it ever has before.

  • Chris, it was only 11 months ago that we did a 24 hour live "Kivathon" on Talkshoe to raise awareness of Kiva.org. Now, everyone knows about microlending. After Ustream and Stickam, there are now 10 sites doing live video. Why aren't there 10 Kivas? Or 1,000 local ones?

There are a few points that make Kiva unique. I think many variations on the basic microcredit theme are possible. I'll try to be the grain of sand in the oyster. Someone needs to come up with the pearl!
