Thanks for Your Help!

You’ve clearly helped me understand what you’d like, so thank you. I read and appreciated every email and comment on the topic of what I should do next.

Want to know what I’m going to do?

Consider this a TV station. Sometimes you can read about self-improvement stuff, business stuff, and what you’re used to. Sometimes, I’ll offer some other content, like artwork, visual or textual stories. Sometimes, I’ll offer reviews and thoughts about things around me.

By TV station, think of this website as a channel. Think of what I produce as content.

I’ve been mulling over what Seth said recently about bloggers clogging up people’s attention span. We don’t say that about NBC, do we? If you don’t want to read, don’t click the station. Ditto here. Some folks read SOME of my posts, while others read all, and wish there were more. I’ll try to cover both sides of that spectrum.

I really appreciate the gang I’ve collected here. I want more interaction with you. I want to know what you guys are doing. I read most of your blogs regularly. Sometimes, I forget or they get eaten under the crush of bloglines. Just the same, I want in. Share with me. If you post something neato on your site, point me to it. If you find something you think I’d like, point me to it.

If you know people who might enjoy reading this blog, POINT THEM TO ME, dammit! : ) Send them easy links:

Along with your new channel metaphor, you might consider sub-channels.

For instance, someone might be interested in your art, but not care a whit about all the business stuff- perhaps category tabs to allow a viewer to see only the posts in a certain category. Additionally, maybe category based feeds in addition to the full-spectrum feed.

It can be easy to get carried away with such things and dilute the whole project with info-clutter in the attempt to make things clearer for some, but I think this idea could have great value if a good balance is achieved in the implementation.
