    Dear Chris,

This is the bridge, I have an idea. Your 4g Phone will work , link up the all the major intenet web links to your phone, simple easy way to link up the White House, Senate, House of Representatives, and then some….Your 4g will work, but you have to have an 129 bit ssc security for the program, so the hackers can’t break in. Bridge the World with the phone… 4 g.

    Respectfully,

I love how fast technology is developing. Between 4g and Microsoft’s “surface” technology the future looks to be pretty interesting.

If they can give an IP to a phone, that’s going to be fabulous! No more limit on the phone: internet, games , video, streaming, etc. If this work, this will be THE step to future.

3G was a big disappointment to me because AT&T kept dropping calls on my iPhone. I’m back to Blackberry and Verizon and perhaps ready for 4G. Has 4G usurped Web 3.0′s promise? Or is 4G just another Promotion Campaign on Steroids that may prove once again that Marketing has trumped Technology? Build It and they will come, or Build It and they will say, They Built It…

Anything development that removes the boundaries (wires, speed, awkward connections) and maximizes the power of our current infrastructure is a welcome improvement. I’m not sure exactly how 4G will do that, but I am interested in learning more about it.

Not a ton of substance in the video however the potential is there. A few of my mobile buddies are more excited about this than anything I’ve seen from them in a long time. True IP-based connectivity.

If you want a peek into the collaboration culture at Cisco, read a recent Fast Company article about CEO Chambers and the innovation shift there. Great stuff: http://bit.ly/sdfJj

I’m not sure what the video said exactly.. I think I got distracted by the visual (which didn’t have too much to do with the content?) and the voice on the video, which sounds like a kid talking… kind of bizarre…

Nothing but a PR material at this point. We are far behind Europe in 4G race as well as devices and it will take a while before a reliable 4G network is in place across the entire US which would be accessible to all service providers.

Chris, thank you for commenting on this latest video from Cisco. We’re hoping that this, and other forms of information that we’re sharing, will expand the debate about the potential of 4G networks beyond wireless and towards delivering integrated end user experience.

Like several of your readers, Cisco believes that translating this promise of 4G mobile internet into reality calls for a holistic view of mobility: truly boundary-less across both wired and wireless networks, and fully aware of device, network, and location. 4G radio technologies, such as WiMAX and LTE, efficiently deliver a lower cost per bit on the radio side but proper scaling of the RAN backhaul and IP networks are critical to enable the service providers manage the explosion of data services.

These technologies have already transformed greenfield and under served markets, by bridging the digital divide. However, the promise of 4G can only be realized by a new wave of IP-based personalized applications and services integrating voice, video, and data.

Looking forward to additional discussions on this vital topic!

    Hi Chris,
Remember your presentation at Social Media Congres in Utrecht, The Netherlands? Where u talked about ‘business goed human’ with social media.

I wrote a little analysis of technologies i saw at CeBIT 2009 Germany and my conclusion was that all these new control technologies, eye tracking, multi0touch, gesture control are leading to one thing: ‘The computer goes human’.

The same thing with mobile phones which are quite intimate devices that we humans carry around. I think design of technology with attention to the human aspect will be the future, just like the ideas behind social media are the future for brands and business.

Please read my article at http://www.strategieforum.nl. Feel free to quote my quote i based on your quote ;) And if you can please let me know what you think?

I think it makes sense for a company that hasn't traditionally played in the wireless game the same way stalwarts like Ericsson and Nokia Siemens have, but the move still lies in stark contrast to Cisco's acquisition of Navini Networks that brought a host of WiMAX-focused equipment into the fold. Of course, CDMA has managed just fine in the shadow of GSM's global domination over the past decade, so these early warning signs could amount a fat load of nothing by the time we've reached a 4G steady state.
