Thesis 1.7 Rocks

I just got a quick tutorial from Chris Pearson about one new feature in the Thesis WordPress Theme (affiliate link). It has built-in support for making simple “301 redirect” links. What does this mean?

For instance, my link to send you over to Thesis looks like this: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=198392&u=287419&m=24570&urllink=&afftrack. Messy, right?

With the new service, you can make a simple page with a simple URL, like this: http://www.chrisbrogan.com/buy-thesis.

Easy, right? As long as you’re using this ethically, this is a really nice way to boost your own SEO, simplify your buyers’ efforts, and give you a much nicer way to send people off to where you’re hoping they’ll find useful products or services. Oh, and if for whatever reason the back-end links change, you don’t have to re-architect your site any more. Just tidy it up on that one page.

    You don't need a theme to cloak aff links. There is an awesome plugin for that called Pretty Link. Also check out Hybrid theme framework. I think it's the most powerful theme I've seen so far.

    But I don't even want to cloak them. I just like that I can simplify them *plus* manage them on my terms. : ) Make sense?

    I totally agree, Thesis 1.7 completely rocks. The organization of options is improved (I thought 1.6 was great over 1.5 – 1.7 is even better) and the fact that you can export/import your settings en masse is a huge help.

    Well Thesis 1.7 looks perfect for an organizations in order to be an effective SEO organization.I haven't used it yet but I will definitely check it.

    Chris, I'm considering Thesis but don't see a way of contacting Chris Pearson to ask a couple of questions. Do you know if it can be used for a business website without any modifications? Also, what kind of support do they provide?
