There’s a lot of energy and motion over at the Grasshoppers group on Facebook. So far, since yesterday, 290 have joined. We’ve evolved a few ideas pretty quickly, including coming up with a few ways to use the group’s network. Here are three reasons to join:
1.) Find a new job. Hire someone for a job. Find a friend a job.
2.) Sell or give away something you have. Find something you want.
3.) Promote great causes or offer great services.
We’ve had all three happen in short notice. And the trick, the power, the value, is in threading this all together. Why? Because these tools AREN’T the story. They are the conduit to the people, and the PEOPLE are the story.
Discover the tools. Learn the tools. Use the tools. But don’t BE the tools.
Join Grasshoppers
Facebook isn’t just a school toy or “yet another social network.” From what I’m learning, it’s a pretty useful system that can be used very effectively to build a very vibrant network, provide excellent tools (especially with lots of good 3rd party apps), and then provide you the chance to use it to DO SOMETHING.
I believe that Grasshoppers is a great way to prove this. Join the group. Determine what we’re doing and how you can apply yourself to it. And then dig in.
Turn social networking into action.
