In this edition of my video book reviews, I have to real winners! I was really pleased to read Kelly Skoloda’s Too Busy to Shop, which deals with understanding “multi-minding” women, and Geoffrey Miller’s Spent: Sex, Evolution, and Consumer Behavior.
Both books were filled with really great information about real core stuff involving the behavior and mindsets behind marketing. You could take both or either of these books into your office, shut the door, get out a notepad, and come out wanting to change at least 40% of what you’re doing with marketing, if not the whole thing. Skoloda focuses on women, but Miller goes deep into our psyche and sexuality. Both books are a big win, though I’d say that Miller’s book feels a bit more like fun reading crammed with actionable information (like a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down) whereas Skoloda’s book is inescapably “good for you.” Make sense?
Oh, and I start the video with our new kitten, Ms. Mew. By “our,” I mean the other people who live in my house. I came home and she was there one day. She sleeps on my head when I’m home.
