Use The Genesis WordPress Theme

I shot a quick screencast to show off the Genesis Premium WordPress theme (affiliate link), which I run here on [chrisbrogan.com]. I just wanted you to see a bit more of what’s behind the scenes on the theme, and to understand why I use Genesis. Here’s the video:

I’m a big supporter of Genesis, and if you’re interested in growing your blog’s capabilities to the next level, you’ll want to check it out.

We ended general discount codes with the Black Friday sale. Discounting is not our model, but we might make bundled offers in the future.

Luckily, we don’t limit you to the number of domains you can use our themes on. So we’re always a relative bargain to some other theme providers.

Genesis is great and looks good out of the box, but, if you’re not happy with html, css and a little bit of php you’re going to want the prose child theme to make design changes easily. Beyond that you’ll need to get into writing Child themes – take a look at the wordpress child theme info – it’s pretty easy to get started and you’ll get a great result with Genesis – it’s worth every penny if you are serious about blogging or want to build a great website.

Prose is pretty decent as a jump-off point for designers. I’ve seen some cool prose hacks.

I took advantage of your Genesis Black Friday Post and moved over to Genesis on my blog. I was a Drupal user and I have to say that the Genesis Framework has really made my life easier (especially since I switched to WordPress at the same time).

I do agree adding things and customizing is a lot easier than when you buy other premium themes that are not as solid or user friendly as the Genesis Framework.

I have to agree that all your recommendations have made my life easier from software you use to recently moving over to batchbook.

I hope you can make it home soon.

Great vid. May I ask what did you record this in? The audio is crisp. Sounds really good and clear, but a bit different than your other vids where we see you. Different cameras will do that of course and as I am learning new technologies/things I wanted to check out what you used.

Hey Chris,

I looked at Thesis before I chose my blog theme and I was very tempted to sign up given the exposure that was out there. But being a blogging-novice-techy I couldn’t find any good explanation on the Thesis site which gave me the benefits of the technical advantages compared to other themes.

I know lots of uber-bloggers are recommending it, but besides you all getting the affiliate commissions (which is cool as you obviously believe in the product) I haven’t seen good comparative analysis which I always do when I’m looking for a CMS for my design clients for example.

It would be great to see the benefits vs other major themes out there

I’ve done web development for over 15 years. Genesis and StudioPress child themes are all I use for my client’s projects these days. Awesome themes, solid coding, easy to customize and great support! I had started to get a little burned out on the web dev stuff for a while but using Genesis makes the biz fun for me again.
