Video Book Review – Seamless Teamwork

January 21, 2009 · Comments

Here’s a book review of my friend Michael Sampson’s book about Microsoft Sharepoint called Seamless Teamwork. If you want to skip the video, my answer was: if you’ve gotta do something with SharePoint, this is the book for you. Lots of extras beyond the software install to explore.

You can buy it here (or find it somewhere else):

Thesis WordPress theme

Thesis is the search engine optimized WordPress theme of choice for serious online publishers. If you’re a blogger who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality without having to alter any code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.

With so many design options, you can use the template over and over and never have it look like the same site. The theme is robust and flexible enough not only to accommodate a site like ChrisBrogan.com, but also to enable the site to run far more efficiently than it ever has before.

  • I thought this book was great! It is very readable and user friendly, and lays out the details of setting up a project. Very impressed, and I'm currently running a project based on the methods in the book. It could use a little more in certain area's but the two online chapters go more into that and the author has also been extremely helpful.
  • Hey Chris, thanks for the review and commentary. Much appreciated. Loved the tag line at 1.10 ... maybe I should be using that!

Eric and Raul ... Seamless Teamwork focuses on using SharePoint effectively for team collaboration. If you're focused on that, this is a good book to help your business users get a picture of what it could mean for them. There's not much at all about document management or search.

    Hope this helps,
    M.

I agree with Eric. The book sounds like it could help us guide users on how to best tap into the capabilities. We will check it out. Thx for the tip.
  • Sean - Sharepoint can be rough. The latest version of the MOSS system looks a bit better. Like all things in the info tech world, it will be painful I'm sure :)
  • Unh...I'm a Sharepoint survivor. Trying to support a heterogeneous user base with SP was a nightmare. Just thinking about it makes me break out in a cold sweat.
