Video that Matters

Mary Matthews talks about coming out here. Evidently, I missed National Coming Out Day, which was October 11th. Sorry about that. I’d have blogged this then.

I saw this over at BuzzMachine, and thought, “THIS is why there needs to be online video.” Why? Because there are so many things that a video can do to build a relationship, tell a story that matters, connect you with something that might matter to your life. It’s not that text can’t accomplish similar goals, but imagine someone thinking about coming out and watching Mary’s video. Imagine seeing her eyes, appreciating her subtle humor, thinking about their own situation at home.

Remember this when making your own media. Remember making video that matters, and think about how you can use your media to help others, make stories that matter, and tell people things that they might need to hear.
