I’m not familiar with Facebook. I’ve just joined recently. As you’ve said, I’ve tried a few times to choose some people to be my friends, but they give no response. Meaning rejected! I wonder how others makes friends actually? Unless of course if you have known them before, ie. old friends, colleagues or relatives. What do you think?

Tell that to the Egyptians! Social networking is here to stay, like it or not. It is a method for not simply catching up with friends, but also a way to gather momentum for products, causes, and I’m sure dozens of other things we have not yet concieved of. Simply dumping on products without seeing through the “popular opinion” is short-sided. Don’t use it if you don’t like it, but don’t be foolish enough to write something off as a waste of time when it has been demonstrated as a vehicle for overthrowing a large influential entrenched dictatorial government!!!

I agree. I think it’s a great place to share “fun” stuff, but doesn’t have a lot applications to more “serious” businesses. I’ve recently separated the serious stuff I want to post — posting it on my newly re-vamped blog that had been abandoned when I got on FB — saving the music videos, failblog and Onion funnies, and other fun stuff for FB and sharing with my friends.

We don’t use facebook – I don’t think it gives the right professional image. FB is immense for private/personal use but I don’t think it is that important in our business.

I think the only reason it would benefit a company to have a FB is simply to be where their consumers are. (if they’re not there, then what’s the point?) or to give the impression that you are accessible to your consumers in ways that are convenient for them. That said, I wouldn’t expect much ROI or activity from FB.

I feel the same way that the person expressed his idea about face book…..what does it do? its a matter
of picking one be it linkedin, or another messaging app to send/receive messsages….what is all the
hype about facebook…..?????

um facebook is where everyone's at.. you got that right. and it's one place where you can do all that at once. you just named a bunch of places you had to go when you could do all of that on one site–facebook. dumbass
