A happy worker is a good worker. Often when I hit a wall at 3pm, I spend a good 30 minutes on Facebook then sluggishly finish whatever task was initially weighing me down. 
If my manager were flexible enough (and trusted me enough) to let me leave (and make up that 2 hours later, at home), likely my subway ride, perhaps followed by a quick nap/walk/snack/etc would be enough to energize my mind thereby making that 2 hours twice as productive than if I were to stick around the office. 
What needs to happen for managers to gain that trust?</description>
