Wire Up Your Customer Base

My friend Mick Galuski is sneaky. Every Wednesday, he sends a direct message of a TwitPic of MY weekly comics. Not some weekly comics. MY weekly comics. He knows that I’ll want them. He knows that I’ll get to them soon as I can. And lately, he knows that I’ll send Kat when I’m out of the country in England and in Colombia to come and get them. I wasn’t that passionate about comics again until Mick MADE me more passionate, by keeping them top of mind for me every Wednesday.

He has a @toysoldiergames Twitter account that he’s working on using for other promotions and to educate his customer base. I think it will do super well.

This isn’t rocket surgery kids (as my Boston friends say). This is marketing. It’s deadly sniper-level good marketing, because Mick makes it about MY comics, and about Ray’s Warhammer 40K miniatures, and about other people’s specific stuff.

And Mick runs a small store with just a few employees. If he can find the time to sell this way, you have to really think about it.

Think he sells more than people who don’t do this? I’m guessing yes. You?

It is a must for retailers to be there, promoting and engaging customers, teaching their products on new innovative ways and making it more social, easy to access. I agree with Ricardo's comments. Prioritize, do more of the most important and delegate the tasks others can do for you!

No, the tactic need not be changed just because the niche is small. But the question here would be does the result justify all the time and expense? If it does, then I would try to find ways to expand the program. If not, I would try to come up with another idea. I think this type activity is how a small business can differentiate itself from its larger competitors because it capitalizes on the personal touch…a big value added advantage which larger companies have trouble providing.

So thats a very caring friends you have got, you are blessed with a nice friend who is such a great fan of yours, knows everything about your likes and dislikes in a very precise manner.. It happens when our friends are aware of our weaknesses and strengths they play an important role in helping us change everything as they want us to do for them.

Ok Chris this is my first Post to you although I am reading your book “Trust Agents” and looking at this blogs makes sense. Of course the Rocket surgery comment was recently used in the movie “Boondock Saints II”, also based in Boston. I get the points you make in your book and I am trying to use your principles to better my online business. But The problem I am having is getting discouraged when you post and post and get 0 zero none not a comment even when you ask what your readers would like to see.
