2008 Holiday Buying Guide

November 30, 2008 · Comments

holiday buying guide Okay, I tried this the other day, but somehow couldn’t embed it neatly. So instead, I’ve rebuilt the entire guide off-site at Amazon directly.

If you have some social media types on your holiday list, or if you’re looking for a way to spend some of those gift cards that people buy because they have no idea what you really like, and really don’t know you well enough to buy you anything personal, get back at them, by buying your own stuff from this store I set up.

Yes, if you buy $1.5 Million worth of products, I’ll get a few dollars some day. (sorry, Darren).

Here’s my 2008 Holiday Buying Guide.

Anything interesting? Anything catch your fancy? Was it worth it to go through and put all those things together in one place?

(Special thanks to Ed Shaz for showing me this nifty widget:)

  • Wonderful article, thanks for putting this together! "This is obviously one great post. Thanks for the valuable information and insights you have so provided here. Keep it up!"
  • Not sure you can do this with the store or widgets - but with the wishlists you can embed charity donation wishlists - thank steve garfield

  • @David - Tribes is a totally different animal. I'll be honest and say that I didn't really like Meatball Sundae as a book. It was probably an article at best to me.

Tribes? Powerful. Could've been another 100 pages longer.

But see? Seth can't win. (I'll try to remember this when people crap on my book in May.)
  • I keep hearing great things about Tribes by Seth Godin. His book Meatball Sundae is fascinating anyway, so I'm sure the buzz for Tribes is well deserved.
  • @Nicholas - I don't get to read daily, but I do get to fly about 3 or more times a month. So I get a few books done per trip. I read about 2 hours a day online, but not as much paper these days (except when I travel).
  • Chris,

Great list of items. Worth it? Yes!

How many hours do you read per day? I was the kid carrying home six books from the public library every week in elementary school. Books were my window to the world.

I read less books now, one~two per month as I concentrate on building a dot com lifestyle. I recently re-discovered the joy of writing. Grandpa was a two-fingered typist on the old Royal typewriter, had stained fingers from changing the ribbon!

I will try to read at least four of those on your list in the next ninety-days.

    Respectfully, Nicholas Chase
