Blogger Support Resources

I’m fortunate to know a number of helpful people in the world of blogging tools and software and design. I wanted to highlight just a few, because I’m often asked who I use for this or that or the other thing. Here are some services that I think might be useful to you:

StudioPress

StudioPress

The folks behind the Genesis WordPress Theme (affiliate link) are also credited with designing my current site layout. I’m using the Genesis theme and children on lots of my other projects right now. I’m really enjoying how Brian Gardner and his team roll.

9seeds

9seeds

The team at 9seeds are doing all my development work and all my site support at this time (well, except for 1 blog, but that’s out of a dozen). I met John Hawkins at a WordCamp in Las Vegas and never looked back. He leads a smart and ridiculously fast-to-respond team.

Snowy Day Designs

Snowy Day Designs

My friend, Nico, at Snowy Day Design has been helping bloggers with their site design for years. He’s usually quite busy, but if you can hire him, he’s got a lot of great ideas and works fast.

Coffeehouse Ideas

Coffee House Ideas

Brothers Justin and Eric Rasmussen lead Coffeehouse Ideas out of California. They have innovative design and work well beyond just blogs. They’ve developed and reworked all kinds of software applications and do lots of good integration work, as well.

We Fix WP

WeFixWp

Did you get started with your WordPress project and get stuck? Did your designer or developer leave you hanging. That’s Dana and Karen’s specialty at We Fix WP. I’ve known them for years and their skills and list of satisfied customers keeps growing.

Blog Wranglers

Blog Wranglers

Moving from TypePad to WordPress? Leaving Blogger for Tumblr? Jim and Don at Blog Wranglers can help. They’ve got a lot of skill at making a transition smooth, and their service makes your move more about discovering your new site’s capabilities and less about biting your nails and worrying where two years of blog posts went.

There are Tons More

I might update this list from time to time. I might not. There are plenty of great services and you probably offer an amazing service, and there are lots of other people doing this. I’m just pointing to some people I know and who I trust to perform these services. By all means, connect with them and see if there’s value to you.

(If you leave your service in the comments, give me a while to approve the links. All URLs go to a quarantine for a while – blame shoe salespeople from Turkey).

Of course a lovely alternative is to collaborate with an agency, who can offer expertise while also networking so that you can benefit from the work of great companies like these. It doesn’t have to be a “this or that” in agency world, and we can streamline the number of people you have to work with, handling phone calls, etc etc.

Just a little footnote there :)

I wonder who has such a resource. Which URL could I check out? : )

I like the studiopress templates as well. I use them on quite a few sites that I converted over from static html site.

Thank you for the “We fix WP Blogs ” resource. Could have used them quite a few times over the years and I’m sure I’ll manage to break stuff again down the road.

That’s the best part of this. We COULD do this stuff. It’s just sometimes easier to ask others. : )

Nice list. I have sent the “We fix WPBlogs” on to a couple of people that have bugs we can’t figure out. Thanks

Just a weee thought/muse/question. From your vantage point what is the state of the blogosphere ? Someone must know the official figures but clearly Twitter is now the preferred medium for conversation – albeit only by those with particular genes (SP ?). But if I compare my nearest and dearest on virtual interaction I can see why Facebook is streets ahead of it though, but in the same way that people adapt to tools I feel that the compromises that Facebook, currently, requires leave out those who don’t feel they are from planet Zog.
