Bring Noor and Ramsay Home

Imagine someone taking your kids. It’s any parent’s nightmare. It’s also what’s happened to my coworker and friend, Colin Bower. Now, imagine that you can help. Because you can. It’s our job (and by “our,” I’m hoping that you’ll help), to really raise some awareness for this case, be cause so far, the quieter channels haven’t worked well enough. We need to get some attention on this story, and for that, I turn to you.

The Story

First, you can watch a news story that gives you some information and introduces you to Colin’s world right now.

The Support

Second, there’s a Facebook page that gives more of the story, plus gives a few calls to what we can do to help Colin.

The Most Important Part

The US government is doing much to try and bring home Noor and Ramsay. What we can do is keep the light on this as much as possible. We can reach out to the most influential people we know and ask for their support. We can make it easy for them to reach out to THEIR influential people, by giving them the above-mentioned links and by asking them to help get the Egyptian government to do their part in bringing Noor and Ramsay home.

We can help. You can help. Please take a moment and visit the Facebook page to help.

And thanks.

Chris. Maybe this guy could help? http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,988313-1,00.html. I kind of know him and could probably get a phone number.

This is also an international legal issue. Folks on the US side won’t be as influential. Who in your audience is actually in Egypt, in the target country, that you could either mobilize or mine for information about what needs to be done on that side? Who do you know at Al-Jazeera? Have you contacted the office of Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, who is the ruling Sunni authority in Egypt? Getting a fatwa issued by the Grand Mufti against Mirvat would automatically put her at odds with any Muslim who was faithful, and under Sharia they’d be compelled to help Colin.

Making a media circus will add some influence on the US side but will probably be less effective than working with the Muslim authorities on the Egyptian sides.

You could help more by posting a synopsis of the story right here, and not forcing people to follow a link trail to find out what the heck you’re talking about. I got directed here from twitter but I never click deeper if I don’t know what’s being discussed.

My dad has been involved in a legal battle for more than 5 years now, in a similar case, except he’s in Romania and his daughter is in Israel – not even with her mother, who passed away, but with some relatives who refuse to let her go. It’s been a nightmare, and most courts claim it’s outside their jurisdiction, and Israeli courts have stalled this for years. Is there, really, no international body that deals with these kinds of parental issues?!

Good for her. She did the right thing.

Shame on the dad and the courts for taking these children away from their mother and turning her into a criminal.

She’s no criminal, she’s their mother.

Children are not property. The dad needs to learn that.

    • Fathers care, too!
