Just a Little Further to Go on the Laptop Charity

Amy Ravit Korin and Chris Brogan (photo of me with @interactiveamy) A week ago, I shaved my head for charity. I decided to raise money for kids who needed laptops (not OLPC, because I did that already, but something for schools). We’re up to $5800 as of this posting.

What am I hoping for from you? $10. Two lattes. If you can give up 2 coffee drinks, you’ll help raise money for kids in schools who can use some updated technology.

So far, we’ve had corporate donations from:

Citrix Online
Radian6
Crocs Shoes

(And not sure if I forgot someone, so let me know?)

Will you help me convince people that social media can help causes?

Worthy Cause! Leading by example again. I donated moments ago for two reasons. I am learning so much from you, so I've donated. You taught to give of yourself and provide value to your customers, organizations and businesses. Giving from one community to a worthy cause is social in and of itself. Social Media works. Therefore I am happy to give. God Bless!

Glad to help with your cause.

I've had great success with using social media to raise money–through my blog, Facebook groups, Facebook events and twitter. I'm a breast cancer survivor and last year my team of 25 raised nearly $87,000 for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. We're at it again and using social media to promote everything we are doing.

Once again, you are on it Chris! Not only did I donate, we are actively partnering Non-Profits and our Foundations with the public market sector here in Seattle — my vision is that Seattle will lead a Compassionate-Commerce 21st Century Social Media Revolution. The Seeds of Compassion conference planted this idea last year when the Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond TuTu, and the 17th Karmapa visited our fair city last Spring. And you dear Chris Brogan have helped the seeds to germinate and sprout!

We are speaking and engaging our Seattle Tech and Philanthropic Communities! Thank you for your wise teaching and especially for breaking the path for us.

Warmly, Jeris JC Miller (aka @dakini_3)
