Location Based Marketing for Dummies – Video Interview with Aaron Strout

I had the pleasure of interviewing Aaron Strout, half of the writing team (with Mike Schneider – you must call him Schneider Mike – no one calls him Mike Schneider), about their new book, Location Based Marketing For Dummies (amazon affiliate link). This is the hot and scary edge of what’s next in marketing. To me, this is where it all gets exciting. I shot a video interview with Aaron that covers some of what’s handled in this book. If you’re in marketing, and you’re trying to help companies find the new edge for 2012, I think this book is a big need.

    Hey Chris, great session!

I had the great pleasure of doing the same with @themichaelschneider:disqus last week! Couldn’t think of two guys better suited to write this book nor could I think of two better guys to be brand ambassadors for the location-based marketing space (well, a third would be @asifrkhan:disqus of the LBMA).

Audio loss is unacceptable! Looks like 2 guys in a garage. Redo and repost.

Chris, I couldn’t get this audio to play properly, sound kept cutting out. I wouldn’t mind seeing a transcript, if you happen to have one.

  • Tennis Casados

Yep, couldn’t follow due to audio drop outs –

Almost every time Aaron speaks his voice is muted out.  Very disappointing.

LBS is the future? Where have you been for the last couple of years?

Obviously the audio comments have been sufficiently raised.  On the topic though, I find myself agreeing with Chris’ early comment, “why would I want people to know where I am”?  The answer was more or less, “people like bragging”.  Interesting.  And from a business perspective I guess you can draw a loose correlation to the number of “check in’s” you have to to a value rich experience, but I’m not sure it’s much more than that.  Jury’s still out for me but I’m very open to be taught the potential value.  Looking forward to a repost with the audio fixed.  Cheers, MC

When the audio worked it sounded great.  What tool are you using to get the side by side of the two of you?

I think the audio stops every time Chris mutes it cause his kids get loud. Bummer.

  • J Mcginnis

Audio was gone every time kids were muted.  You need to do this in an office.

Aside from the audio concerns, I believe this post is great. Thanks for sharing!

Stopped at after 5 minutes when all I hear is the interviewer and no answers.  Perhaps review the audio before posting online???  I expect more from this site actually.
