My Best Advice About Social Media

August 10, 2008 · Comments

people It feels almost redundant to say that I’ve written some best advice about social media. I write pretty much all the time about social media. So maybe this is just a collection of ten posts about it.

I believe that social media (things like blogging, podcasting, video, collaboration, and social networks) delivers actual, tangible results to businesses and individuals, if done with a purpose. The trick of it all is working within a strategy. It’s easy to run off the rails and just use the tools without any kind of goal in mind. Hopefully, some of this will help.

Besides, the best advice is the advice that works for you. Nothing to do with what I think at all. In any case, I’ve compiled ten posts about social media that I think might be useful to you.

  • I stumbled upon this. Looks promising! Thank you for sharing this!
  • The advice on social media is very nice. Thanks for sharing it.
  • Chris,

Thanks for putting some of your older posts together. I've been trying social media to promote my non-profit organization and my e-commerce site. It's been like trying to sell popsicles to eskimos. Hopefully, I can use some of the older stuff to take a new look at what I am doing.

  • Excellent post. Social media can be confusing to so many people - what it is and what it is not.

Thanks for all the links to the resources of information.

  • Chris, you really inspire me in so many ways. Your blog is hands down the most content rich blog in my reader. Of course the subject matter is one that I'm passionate about, but the amount of knowledge you share and the quality of conversations you start is just incredible. When I meet people who don't quite understand the power of social media, I always point them to your blog, and I've had several people thank me for introducing them to your blog.
  • Chris, it's hard for me to discern which is your best, because it's all "best" imo. Just keep doing what you're doing. We all benefit.
  • Nice compendium Chris

    Thank you for you efforts.
  • I would thank you for the post, but after discovering your blog relatively recently, I know that this entry also means much fewer hours in my day today. *sigh* A good sigh, but *sigh* nonetheless.
  • Thxs for this collection of posts..Makes it easy to get an idea what it can do for your biz and even better, where to (not) start !

  • I agree, you have written some of the best advice to be found on Social Media. I also agree that the best advice is to ensure that you have an organizational specific strategic plan regarding Social Media.
  • Thanks for the links ... especially liked "Social Media Starter Moves for Entrepreneurs" and "What Social Media Does Best"
  • Thanks for showing me your older content, it's good to promote previous stuff, for us newbies.
  • I like it when you do these 'compilation' posts - makes it easier to find all of my favorite stuff without too much searching! ;)
