My Newsletter is Different From My Blog

July 18, 2008 · Comments

I’m planning to put out the next edition of my newsletter in a few days. This time, it’ll be a special podcasting / videoblogging episode, full of ideas that I pick up from this weekend’s PodCamp Boston 3.

What’s different about my newsletter? It’s got totally different content than the blog. It speaks a bit more to newcomers to social media and new marketing than the blog. It has a few special features (including a section of new web applications to try out every issue), and it’s something you can easily forward to friends and coworkers.

You’re invited to subscribe for free to my newsletter. You’ll only see 2 a month at most. I respect your time and attention. What do you think?

And current subscribers: did I leave anything out?

ChrisBrogan.com runs on the Thesis Theme for WordPress

Thesis WordPress theme

Thesis is the search engine optimized WordPress theme of choice for serious online publishers. If you’re a blogger who doesn’t understand a lot of PHP, Thesis will give a ton of functionality without having to alter any code. For the advanced, Thesis has incredible customization possibilities via Thesis hooks.

With so many design options, you can use the template over and over and never have it look like the same site. The theme is robust and flexible enough not only to accommodate a site like ChrisBrogan.com, but also to enable the site to run far more efficiently than it ever has before.

  • You mean that you can have a newsletter without retiring from blogging? I hope you CC'ed Calacanis.
  • Chris the presentation of your information is clean, organized, and the colors are easy on the eyes. Thank you for making the new
    wave technology palatable.
  • I've got to confess that I cannot humanly find time to take in content at the speed with which you output, so I'm opting out of the newsletter (I'm also not a fan of the new newsletter trend for a few reasons). I love everything you have to say about social media, but I wonder how many people actually have time to read and really absorb everything that you put out there... I'd like advice on how they manage it if they do. I never know how to choose which entries to read, knowing that I don't have time to read them all, and it's one thing that really frustrates me about your blog.

It's a strange frustration to have, but one that's causing me to frequently just throw up my hands and claim "chrisbrogan bankruptcy," clearing everything as read and starting over. If I tried to add the newsletter in there as well, I'm not sure I would ever realistically read any of it due to overwhelm.

Just some random insight from a reader's perspective. Not sure I necessarily expect you to change anything, just wanting to put it out there for thought.
  • Looking forward to it Chris! You are a dynamo, how do you find the time?
    Thanks,
    JR
