Pick up Facebook Marketing – Video Book Review

It took me a little while to read my coworker, Justin Levy’s new book, Facebook Marketing: Designing Your Next Marketing Campaign (amazon affiliate link), but mostly because I’m still on the fence no the value of Facebook as a marketing tool. Justin did a great job of convincing me that I should give it another look, thanks to his work in defining everything clearly with a lot of examples. Even discounting for the bias of working with Justin, I couldn’t help but appreciate his view of Facebook, and I learned a lot from the plentiful examples in the book. If you’re going to try marketing using Facebook, you’d do well to pick up Facebook Marketing

Reading among the lines: What unique the book offers that I wouldn't find online on blogs, or learn from tutorials, webinars… etc?

Clearly you approved of the book, but how do you feel it stacks up against other Facebook marketing books?

Not seeing alot of Facebook books, I have one on Linked In and one on Twitter but think this is good move. There are a clearly one or two tips that the early adopters can pass on that latter adopters just will not have. Easy to dismiss such for there uber niche quality, I have done.

Boston bloggers seem to be making inroads on Facebook, Doug Haslam was talking about Facebook successes too. I will look out for this in the bookshop.

I think knowing your way very well around one or two (social networks) could be lucurative for a person.

I have the same opinion about Facebook marketing tools, but your review makes me interested in taking another look. There are so many books on Facebook its hard to know which ones are really worth the time and who has information that will have added value beyond what I already know.

I'd love to hear more about your ambivalence regarding marketing and facebook. I love FB, but have an aversion to FB marketing efforts (even though I'm helping some clients do this). Maybe you could address this in more detail sometime?

  • Bite-size blogger

    Hi Chris

Seems a somewhat ambivalent review… a book worth picking up and “putting on the shelf”…What else does the book deal with to make it worth the read and, after the reading the book, are their any new Facebook strategies you'll be trying out?

  • marklongbottom

sounds good, all in one handy book. always remember to be flexible though people are important and currently you can find most on facebook so why not listen and talk to them there, beware though they may move [they may not too].

as a business being real and accessible to customers, clients, fans, followers and friends will as yu know help them share your reality and beliefs. facebook is a good area to do this whether a book will help or basic instincts in relationship building can sometimes cut ut the middle man [ad agency, pr etc] and deliver you straight to the people that matter to your brand or business.

I have this book on order from the library – can't wait to read it! Facebook continues to baffle me – hoping this will help me sort it all out and come up with a workable marketing plan. Thanks for the review!

There are plenty of case studies to consider and replicate. To me, a guy who gets 20 new books a week sent to him, “put it on the shelf” is actually a compliment. It means I want it to stick around.

    Great question.

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

I didn't read very many of them. Maybe you could shoot a review after you get this one? : )

A collection of case studies and good information that's useful and actionable.

I'll give it a go and let you know. If you come across any other quality books in the meantime though, I'd be happy to follow your recommendations.

the overall palette leaves you with retro jordans look that’s sure to draw some extra attention without overstating their case. These Authentic Jordans Neon white black green are clearly inspired after the legendary Neon retro Jordans . These Jordan Shoes aren’t anywhere close to the 95s

Your article is very informative and the use of graphics adds to understanding the process. I think some of your sentences are too long, and a few minor commas are missing. One thing I was taught, never end a sentence with a preposition.
