Saddleback Leather is Just Delicious – video review

**Updated for a bit more clarity and disclosure (as there were some questions): Saddleback Leather Company gave me this product free of charge.**

I’m joined by my daughter, Violette, to review this messenger bag made by The Saddleback Leather Company. It’s the first time I wished a video could have smell enabled. (Very special thanks to @AliciaSanera for connecting me with this company.)

The dark coffee messenger bag from the Saddleback Leather Company is pricey, but worth every dollar.

I've had my eye on these bags for a while. Saving up to get a couple items from them. Very nice looking stuff. Love it.

    Fantastic :)
My kid is four (almost) I think it's time to bye a video camera and start selling, well, lego?

  • http://www.larakretler.com Lara Kretler

I was literally drooling during this, imagining the smell of that bag. That's the sort of leather item that only gets cooler the older and more beat-up it gets.

Oh, and another thing? More from Violette, please! She rocks.

Hmmm, very interesting commercial technique. Could this be the wave of the future for advertising? I bet it beats some other ad attempts by SADDLEBACK LEATHER.

    Seriously, Chris, nice job.

I've got a Saddleback Leather bag. Love it!

And I love their story as well…just reading through their website is fun.

Awesome job Chris! It's great that you got your daughter in on the action!

I need to get one of these bags.

@jon – The Saddleback creation story is great! Kind of a gipsy turned business owner journey.

    Looking forward,
    Michael

The bags seem nice enough, but I was impressed more by the links back to the rivals website and especially the story of Old Blue. That story alone is worth the visit to the Saddleback website!

Charming…. A very clever way of doing a product review!

Kudos to your daughter for being a good sport. Vanna White, move over… :)

The only thing that could have made it any cuter would have been to try to put one of the kitties in there. ;-) Love the site and the products. Thank you Chris.

Sod the bag! Where can I get a daughter like yours?

  • http://www.trusted-breast-pumps.co.uk/ Tobias Stapleton

This leader bag is really solid and best in Quality.

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

Well, please understand that this isn't an ad as such. I wasn't paid to talk about the back. I was sent one for review. I guess one could say that might count as a payment, but I don't see it that way.

  • http://mizzinformation.blogspot.com Maggielmcg

Not to be obnoxious, but do you honestly think them sending you a free bag to review is not a form of payment? I read your blog regularly and know you are usually good about disclosing sponsored posts, but does that only apply when a company is paying you?

  • http://www.duffrunner.blogspot.com Chris Duffy

Great job Chris. I don't know how you do it all! What a great way to involve the kids in what you do!

  • http://chrisbrogan.com Chris Brogan

In the video, I believe I state that they sent me the bag. No, I don't rate it the same as a sponsored post. In this case, I'm reviewing product. This practice has been around for a century with or without me.

If I didn't state it in the video, it was a misstep. When a company sends me a product, I like to mention that they sent it.

Thanks for checking on me. I like the accountability. Truly.

I wouldn’t really call that a review. All I got out of your video is that the bag is beautiful and that you may or may not be able to fit a kitten inside it. Not to sound snarky, but is the rest of it posted somewhere that I missed?

I’m really interested in knowing more about the bag.

  • http://mizzinformation.blogspot.com Maggielmcg

I honestly am not trying to hate on you; I was just curious, having recently read a few posts/articles about impending changes from FTC that have to do with this stuff–e.g. is receiving free products the same as being paid. Do you have any info on the regulations they're reviewing and possible ramifications for bloggers?

    Thanks!

I love Saddleback, I have their overnight duffle and the backpack. Cooler items I could not possess, I have them in chestnut and delicious is a good word for these bags. I have a macbook pro that has a leather sleeve (from Renaissance Art) which fits perfectly. I also have a messenger bag from Renaissance and they have some pretty killer stuff too. Saddleback is the real deal all the way….If you want the bag you see in the movies or the bag the guy jumps out of a plane with whilst being chased by gun runners (or whomever) then this is the bag for you. Every time I see my duffle I expect to find gobs of cash inside of it, or perhaps a bunch of passports, drugs, guns and money….It's a mysterious bag, the kind that can get one into trouble. I hope to soon own a second duffle…..Arivaderche my friends!

You know, I can't understand why some people are so damn negative toward Saddleback Leather. I could care less where their products are made or who makes them. They have awesome bags. I also have a dark coffee brown bag, but it's the medium briefcase and pouch and I love them both. Heavy, smells wonderful, excellent craftsmanship and quality. Thanks for the video blog; I just stumbled upon it and as usual, as I was reading the comments, there had to be the usual naysayers with their jealous banter.
