Six Pixels and Mitch’s Big Day

September 8, 2009 · Comments

Today is the my friend Mitch’s big push for his book, Six Pixels of Separation: Everyone Is Connected. Connect Your Business to Everyone. (amazon link). It’s a great book that teaches us how to connect in meaningful ways online, and what that means to our business. It’s a solid book, well-written, and one of the six books I’d recommend people put on their bookshelf, if they need a thorough understanding of how social software changes the web. Watch this video and then I have a special offer for you.

Mitch had no idea I was going to do this, but I tell you what: if you show me proof that you’ve bought 10 copies of Mitch’s book, I’ll write a guest blog post for the first 10 who show me they’ve done it. Buy 10 copies, get a guest blog post from me. Again, my limit to this deal is ten offers (I can’t guest blog all the time. I barely have time for my blog!), so if you want it, come and get it.

Let’s show Mitch a good day for his launch. Why? Because his book is very much in alignment with what Julien and I believe, because Mitch is a good friend and top shelf professional speaker, and because Julien and I are both interested in the future of how books are promoted (for obvious reasons).

Are you in?

  • Great video.I'm really looking forward to digging into this book and seeing Mitch present at Brand Camp in Detroit this October. And 10 books for a guest blog post?
  • Chris, nice gesture - Yet, I have a strong feeling that this book is going to be very successful on its own merit. I just finished reading the Kindle version. I just spoke at a large insurance industry meeting in New Orleans and mentioned the book as a "must read". This book is full of wonderful "gems" and I ended up with a large number of "bookmarks".
  • What a novel promotion, Chris.

Dr. Robert Cialdini says the best gifts are significant, personal and unexpected. Your offer is all three.

I've only ordered multiple copies of two books: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen Covey) and Selling The Invisible (Harry Beckwith). But that was after reading them.

Here's a first. I just ordered 10 copies of Mitch's book and yours too. I hope that helps you and the recipients.
  • Chris,

Great idea. I love the creativity of your promo for Mitch Joel. If your offer is still available I purchased 10 books today.
  • greeblemonkey
I missed this, but what a clever idea.
  • Well, I am quite new to this "world"... I have recently read your book Trust Agents, Chris, and am in the process of reading Mitch's book, Six Pixels of Separation. I was introduced to both books thanks to Mitch's blog. As I enter my new phase of becoming "One of Us", I feel more secure now that I have these incredible tools to get me started.

Truthfully and honestly, they are BOTH incredible books!! :)

I don't need 10 books since I am a 1 Woman show but I will certainly pass the word around about both books.
  • I'm grateful that you enjoyed it, Ravit! Thanks for your kind words. : )
  • thehunterswife
Loved the video. Maybe you could do another to show my husband how to wear a shirt and tie to dinner instead of camo. :)

I hope to soon enjoy all 10 of my books.
  • Debbie Ferm
Shoot!! I wish I had a blog. I'd want you to guest post for sure:)
  • mlkeone
Am I too late? If not, please count me as one of the 10 and proof will be digitally winging it's way to you. Love you both.
  • Can't do the ten thing but I'll definitely put it on my Amazon Wish list to get right after I'm done with Trust Agents (which is a very good book, btw).

    Hi Chris,

That is indeed a lovely offer that you made for Mitch. I will be adding this one to the list to read.
BTW, you are looking really great at the moment. I read that you've made some lifestyle changes and it is noticeable. Well Done!
  • I can'g agree more.
  • On page 123, fantastic read! Was hoping to blog about by mid/end of the week

What a thoughtful offer, Chris, and a perfect example of giving freely of your time.

I've just ordered 10 copies of the book and sent you a receipt. Here's hoping I'm one of the first 10!

    @BryanPerson
  • What a kind offer, Chris. I'm in for my 10 and will send you the invoice screen shot
  • Alright Chris,

I just got Mitch's book. I'm excited to read it because of you're recommendation! Don't worry, I already bought your book and loved it.

I need to have your blog posts update via SMS so I don't miss out on these crazy cool promotions you do!

Take care and come to Minneapolis sometime. Seriously, let's make it happen.
  • i like what you said.
  • Congrats Mitch! I'm in on the 10.

Chris, I'm impressed with the secret abilities you have. Tying a tie and encouraging a friend. Nice!

    Off to buy some books.
  • Great idea and sounds like a great book. I've ordered them through your link and will forward you a copy of the receipt.

  • Chris, I am impressed with the gesture you are making for Chris and would like to take you up on your offer as well.

I will make a purchase for our team and send along proof.

This will be an excellent addition to our teams resources.
    Thanks!

    Craig
  • Awesome of you to do, Chris. I'm going to buy one copy because of this post. Best of luck, Mr. Joel.

  • Chris, I've known Mitch for over 2 decades (more I think). I first met him when I was teaching private self-defense classes in the early 80's. He was a punching bag for a student of mine and then he became my student - Mitch eventually became so passionate about self-defense that he helped teach classes. Over the years he's become a good friend and in return, has mentored me the ways of 'social media'.
Seeing your tweet this AM was a great thing and I bought the 10 immediately for my staff. Thanks for doing this for Mitch, very cool, very clever.
  • Two decades? Only... it's more... it's so much more, that I feel old :) Thanks for the support and constant friendship Tony... it means more to me than you'll ever know. A lot of what I learned from you is a part of Six Pixels of Separation :)
  • Chu Fan Do, eh? I hope you weren't a punching bag for one of the Kimmels.
Congrats on the book and the popular support.
  • You are a crazy and beautiful friend. Thank you!

I am turning this into an infomercial ;)

Let me sweeten the offer. I recorded an audio program titled, Your Personal Brand Audio Workbook, that I have never sold beyond a couple of exclusive speaking events. It's a 50-minute CD that helps people to understand and develop their personal brand. If you send me the addresses of the people who buy 10 copies of the book, I will include 10 copies of the CD for each order.

    Thanks for doing this Chris!
  • I'm buying ten books. Oh wait. I work at Twist Image. I guess it doesn't count. But for the record i woulda anyway :)
  • isfan
    Chris,

I find this quite incredible. I've taken you up on your offer just because I think it is so awesome for you to do something this nice for a friend. This is the true power of the network and it demonstrates that the true power behind the tools is still people, relationships and trust. Way to go. Proof is on the way.

    @isfan
  • Hooray! That's why I'd bother writing a post, because I think it's cool that we can support our friends in a very open and obvious way. Seems like the right thing to do. Thanks for supporting!
